Lily tucked the annoying piece of hair behind her ear irritated. She let out a heavy sigh as she closed her book, giving up reading for the day. Not that the book was boring, she couldn't focus was all. She stared out at her backyard, tugged her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Her backyard was cramped so it wasn't much of a sight to look at. Letting out another sigh, Lily stood and made her way out of her tidy room. She raced downstairs and into the kitchen where she saw her mother cooking something that sure smelled fantastic.
"Hello dear, bored already?" Rose Evans was a beautiful woman, with graying red hair and warm honey eyes. Wrapped around her waist was an apron tying in a bow in the middle of her back. She looked up from her cooking and smiled gently at her daughter.
Lily nodded her head slowly; she walked over to the dining table and grabbed a chair. Dragging it behind her she walked to the kitchen, stopped and then plopped down into the chair.
Her mother nodded her head in understanding. "As much as you look forward to summer vacation, it doesn't always meet your expectations sometimes. I'm sorry dear, why don't you go owl a few of your friends." She said beating something in a bowl.
Lily watched her mother carefully and slumped shoulders. "Already done, and their lives are just as boring as mine at the moment." Rose stopped for a moment, putting the bowl down on the messy counter. She walked over to her daughter and smiled excitedly. "Why don't you go owl them again and say that your mother may possibly be the best person ever to walk the earth." Lily laughed lightly and raised her eyebrows.
"Why? Not that I'm saying you were lying…" She trailed off with a smile on her lips.
"Well dear, I think you deserve to have a amazing summer before you go off to Hogwarts again. You've worked so hard all these years, I think you deserve a bit of a break." She grinned at her daughter and kissed her forehead. "Why don't you go ask a bunch of your friends if they'd like to join you on a trip? Or a road trip if you'd please. Traveling with all your friends is a great way to spend a summer in my opinion." Lily stared at her mother for a moment before squealing in excitement. "Mum! That's a great idea! It's our last summer before we really have to start growing up!" Lily, bouncing with excitement, hugged her mother and with the chair trailing behind her, made her way to her room.
Rose smiled after her daughter, eyes dancing with amusement. She let out a content sigh going back to her cooking.
