Rules

Dis:

I do not own Charmed or any of the characters.

A/N:

I wrote this ages and ages ago so I may as well post it. A short little drabble about Charmed centered on Phoebe.

Her life was nothing but rules. From a young age she had constantly been reminded of 'the rules'. But the rules were simpler then, be nice to her sisters, go to sleep on time, don't sneak into the candy drawer. But even then she had never been one for rules. She and her sisters fought, she stayed up late, and she knew the trick to open the candy drawer. In high school she even went as far as to listening through the air vents when her eldest sister snuck her boyfriend upstairs. No Phoebe Halliwell had never cared much for rules.

As she got older more rules came, as she discovered her powers, more rules came. No personal gain, the power of three comes first, innocents come first. But even then she wondered, when did she come first? If she had wanted a life of serving others she would've taken her vows at the local convent long ago. But no the rules came first, the rules always came first. Until the day she broke one of the cardinal rules. No fraternizing with the enemy.

Life had been dreary, life had been rain. He was her rainbow, her sanctuary, and more. Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered they had stuck together. Through life, through dealing with Balthazar, Cole's demon side; through vanquishes, and death, through him becoming the Source. For once, she had left the rules behind. Life was good, Cole was good. Then life was bad, then Cole was bad, but not just bad, Evil. For a time she wondered, why did the rules come first? Then, through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered she had learned. She knew why the rules came first.
