I don't own Fred or George Weasley...but I do own Tess and the plot! MUHAHAHAHAHA! (I'm evil, and I know it!)
I awoke with a start. Something's not right. I got out of bed quietly, as not to wake anyone. I crept down the stairs to the common room. About halfway down I could hear a faint sound, almost like crying. I quickened my pace concerned something was wrong. When I got to the common room I found the source of the noise, and I was right, it was crying. One of my best friends was sitting on the couch crying, his brother crouching in front of him. Fred and George Weasley. We've been best friends even before Hogwarts, and seeing one of them crying hurt me greatly. I took a step forward, unsure if I was needed. Fred must have heard me because he glanced over at me. Our eyes locked for a moment before he returned to his brother. I heard him mumble something to his brother who responded with a shaky nod. Fred used the couch to hoist himself up then he made his way over to me. I gave him a confused look as he led me to the far corner. There, he started talking in a hushed voice laced with concern. "He's had a nightmare, but he won't tell me what it's about. He just keeps muttering 'they're gone'."
"Can I try? I mean, to calm him down?"
"Anything to see him smile again." I gave Fred a small, reassuring smile before heading over to the sobbing boy. I knelt down in front of him and my heart broke. The poor boy was sobbing relentlessly. He had his face buried in his hands and his whole body was shaking. I reached out and placed my hand on his knee. He jumped a bit at this before looking at me. Then he broke out in fresh new tears. "Th-They're g-gone."
"George, who's gone?" By this time Fred had rejoined me and was sitting on the couch next to George trying to calm him down. "B-both of th-them." He managed to say between sobs. "George, who's 'both of them'?"
"T-tess and Fr-red. They're g-gone. I-I couldn't do anyth-thing!" I looked at Fred and he looked back with tear-filled eyes. I turned back to George. I hated seeing him like this. He's usually so happy and full of life. Somehow I had to reassure him that we're here, Fred and I. I stretched out my hand. "George, give me your hand."
"But y-your-"
"George, give me your hand." I said it a bit more forcefully this time. George timidly reached out with shaking hands. I gently grabbed his hand and put it over my heart. George's eyes widened a bit as he felt my heart beat. "Do you feel that George? It's my heart, and it's beating. I'm just as alive as you are. As is Fred." At the mention of his name, Fred reached out and took George's hand from mine and put it over his heart. "See Georgie? We would never leave you. Heck, you couldn't pay us enough to leave your side." George smiled a bit as realization hit him. "You're alive. You're both alive!" George's small smile blew up to a full out grin. He leapt up and pulled Fred and I in a massive bear hug, cutting off our oxygen. "Hey, mate? We can't breathe." At this George put us down looking sheepish. "Oops. Sorry." Fred and I just laughed and soon George joined in. At the sound of his laughter, I knew he was going to be alright.
Awwww! Tess did it! So, did you like it? Hopefully you did and you'll review, please? Pretty please? I'll add a cherry on top!
