When They Were Brothers
R: K+
Ch: Commander Cody
Summary: "Cody was secretly glad that they didn't find General Kenobi's body…drabble…non-slash…
A/N: This little drabble was inspired by a picture I saw on deviantart dot com. And I though, Cody had to have to some qualms about shooting at Obi-Wan, so I wrote this. Anyways, hope you like it.
"Execute Order 66."
"It will be done, My Lord."
The hologram vanished and Commander Cody turned to the lieutenant manning the plasma cannon behind him, "Blast him!" He snapped, gesturing towards the massive wall of brown rock in front of them. The trooper fired without hesitating and Cody watched with quiet solemnity as General Kenobi plunged the hundred plus feet into the deep pool of water below.
Bright searchlights scanned the murky depths of the water in vain. The creature Kenobi had been riding, Boga, Cody remembered, floated nearby. It's neck snapped from hitting the water. Darkness had fallen hours before and Cody still hadn't called of the search. He needed to make sure.
"Sir, nobody could've survived that fall."
Cody didn't bother to reply. An average person couldn't have survived that fall and General Kenobi wasn't an average person. The troopers who were currently under Cody's command hadn't served under Kenobi and didn't what Kenobi was capable of like Cody was. He knew better. He'd seen the general come out worse situations unscathed, mostly, anyways.
The holophoto had been General Skywalker's idea. Somehow he'd managed to find an old holocam that was still working much to General Kenobi's chagrin. Cody watched in amused silence with Rex standing beside him. Skywalker finally won over his former master's acquiescence to do a group holo. He waved over Trapper and Boil as he prepped the cam and Cody took his place beside Kenobi. Rex stood on the other side next to Skywalker with Boil and Trapper kneeling in front with Skywalker's droid in the middle. Later, Skywalker gave them a copy of the holo, stating that everyone should have one. And Cody still has it.
Cody shook himself from the memory. Searching the pool one last time, Cody turned sharply on his heel and walked away. Kenobi wasn't to be found.
Secretly, Cody was glad they didn't find him. It meant that Kenobi had survived that treacherous fall.
Kenobi had been one of the best generals Cody had served and he respected him. And Cody hoped that he wouldn't have to have to face his former general because, that if he did, he knew he would have to kill him.
And Cody really, really hoped that it wouldn't come to that.
Will someone please add Commander Cody to the character selection?
Please R and R!
