Off Guard

By Rikka K

She was there, and he knew it. She knew that he knew too. With that nose, he can detect anything, and she knew that.

"Busy, Inuyasha?"

Inuyasha sneered, "Not much. I had one less woman to save for the last few weeks."

"I see that."

He turned to look at her, but to his surprise, she wasn't there.

"Not too good, now, are we?"

"Excuse me, I was only trying to look behind me." Inuyasha said defensively.

"Oh come on." A tall bitter laugh. "You can't smell me so well anymore, can you?"

Inuyasha smashed his hand into the nearest tree, "Not my fault."

"And I thought you could protect me."

"Go back where you came from."

"Why?"

Inuyasha ignored her.

"Look at me, Inuyasha. I'm right here."

He ignored her.

"Afraid?"

"No." he snapped.

"More like bitter, hm?"

"Shut up."

"Ah, I see."

"Go away."

Inuyasha heard footsteps running toward him behind his back, and he quickly shot forward to evade the impact. Except, it still came, from the front.

"Ha!" laughed the raven-haired beauty, "I've been practicing, Inuyasha."

"Get off." he grunted.

"Mmm... and why should I?" she grinned.

"Because I might not be able to stop myself from kissing you, Kagome."

"Wha-?" Kagome's words were stopped and muffled by a pair of strangely warm lips. Strangely warm, for a hanyou.

Moments later (which seemed like hours to them) as they gasped for breath, Kagome's face was flushed unnaturally, but she could see that Inuyasha was taken aback as well.

SMACK!

Kagome wasn't one to enjoy being caught off guard.
