Disclaimer: Damnit. I don't own Jesse Tuck. I am hatching evil plans to
steal his from his fictional fate, binging him to life to marry me!! Oh
yeah, I don't own Winnie ore any characters you recognize from the book or
the movie. I'm not married to Jonathan Jackson either, and the lyrics are
from his band's (Jono and the Rock) song, Suddenly Naked.
Chapter One- Your Heart is at odds with your mind.
And you keep walking through, Door after door, Trying to murder time But each room that was new isn't bright anymore, And your heart is at odds with your mind
Jesse lived in a small town in Europe, counting the days until Winnie Foster's seventeenth birthday. Waiting for the day he could see his love again. He smiled whenever he thought of her, long, wavy chocolate hair and vivid eyes, her young face sparkling with excitement and joy. In a way it frightened him that he fell for a little girl, whose mind could change in a minute.
Patiently he waited, working here and there, making odd things to sell. He moved around but for the most part but stayed in Europe, far away from the little town of Treegap. By now he had saved two-hundred dollars. He had spent almost all of it, in seven years his compulsiveness and spontaneous nature had not left him (to the prayers of fangirls and worshippers alike), a mounting pile of his purchases stacked in a corner of his permanent inn room.
On the day of Winnie's seventeenth birthday, the young man became even more distressed. She had probably met someone else and was already betrothed for pity's sake- who would wait around for someone who they met seven years before? Who would ever be willing to spent eternity with someone the met seven years before? That was Jesse's mind. His mind always getting in the way. His mind the part of him that saw the negative side of Winnie Foster, thinking that nothing would ever be the same. His heart on the other hand, knew better. He knew that Winnie loved him in the same way, that she treasured the moment when he informally invited her to marry him. His heart knew that she was waiting also, sitting in her window, hoping for the opportune moment to drink the water.
This in fact, was what Winifred Foster was doing, sitting in her old rocker by the window, carefully listening to her parents conversations and movements, making herself stay awake to drink the water, making herself immortal. Her stomach jumped all over her insides, making her body shake from the invisible, lifeless wind.
Her mind, too, was having doubts. Did the dashing, young Jesse Tuck who had stole her heart seven years ago still feel the same way? Was he going to come back for her like he promised? Not likely. Her mind also, getting in the way. In her soul, she knew that Jesse loved her, that he would come back. And so, she waited patiently by the window, waiting for her moment.
A/N: I know, really really really odd and totally unlike Jesse to sit around waiting for some girl, but this is just how it's starting. If I get plenty of good reviews, I'll continue and Jesse will perk up to his normal self. So, this is my first Tuck everlasting fic, please review!! (
