"Hmm." Brown eyes scrutinized the deck.

"Hmm." Sapphire eyes examined the same deck.

"Hit me."

Smirking to himself, Aster restrained himself from taking the customary directive literally and drew a card with aplomb. The Two of Hearts.

"Hit me."

Plucking out another card, Aster did just that. The Three of Clubs. His idiot companion was now up to seventeen.

"Hit me."

Reluctantly, Aster complied. The Three of Hearts. Twenty of all things. Taking a sidelong glance at his own twenty; Aster laid his palm flat on the tabletop in preparation of a draw.

"Hit me."

Aster was shocked. "I beg your pardon?"

"Just hit me."

"Jaden, that's crazy. Your chance of getting an Ace is one in…"

A goofy grin spread over Jaden's face. "I trust the cards."

"Jaden…these are playing cards, not Duel Monsters cards."

"I know."

Aster raised an eyebrow. "Then, why…"

"Trust the cards."

Perplexed, Aster did as Jaden wanted. Let the misguided Slifer lose. At least he himself would win. So, in one swift movement, Aster turned the next card over.

What in…

The Ace of Spades pointed up at him. Bewildered, Aster laid it down next to the Three of Hearts. Jaden had won.

"Yeah!" Jaden pumped his fist into the air. "See? What did I tell you? You have to have more faith, pal."

"All right." Aster shuffled the deck wearily. "Let's try this again…"

This is the last time I play Blackjack with Jaden Yuki.

Author's: Okay, it's short, but I just wanted to do something with these two together. Since, yaoi doesn't feel right at this time (or ever) this was a good compromise.
