Rain Can Wash It All Away
By: Arashi Kei (Lady Kei)
The plains outside Nibelheim swayed violently in the wind and rain. Light illuminated the grass in the field suddenly, then faded with a loud crack. This particular storm seemed to mirror the emotions of a woman trying to race through it. Soaked to the bone with her long chestnut hair clinging to her petite frame, her eyes searched the horizon in search of shelter, which was also her destination.
Once she could see the dark roofs were finally in sight over the hill, she hurried her pace to an exhausted sprint. Rain ran from her bangs into her eyes making her vision blur. But it didn't matter. She was almost to where it all began. All of it. After so much, she didn't need her sight to find Nibelheim. Tifa was going home… Strange that it seemed like her only haven now.
What was it Cid had said? Who was living in this ghost town? She couldn't recall… Her breathing was becoming ragged, and Tifa knew she was near her limit. Her sudden flight from Edge had to have been days ago, and her body had had enough. Tifa barely remembered stumbling through the gate. A light was burning in the window of her reconstructed house. Or was it Cloud's…?
With burning lungs and trembling legs, she made her way to the house.
The candle fire danced around the room, but hardly gave enough illumination to do much with. Vincent sat quietly in the corner, looking as if he were in deep thought, eyes closed. He rather liked stormy nights, even if it HAD knocked out the power. The rain was soothing… And sometimes, just sometimes, the rain kept his thoughts from being haunted in sleep.
His eyes shot open at the sudden thud at the front door. With mild curiosity, he slowly rose to his feet. Vincent waited with strained ears for another knock but it never came. He sighed and made his way downstairs. He was SURE he'd heard a knock…
The storm was still booming outside as Vincent closed his hand around the knob. There wasn't really anything he could be frightened of, so he quickly twisted his wrist and pulled the door open. Something wet crumpled in from the doorstep as Vincent took a quick step back. His mild curiosity turned quickly to confusion when he recognized what was lying on the floor at his feet.
"Lockheart…?"
This is just a sample… I want to know how interested people are before I put more of this story up. I wrote this story for all those who can't find a single well-written, well-thought Final Fantasy VII romance between Tifa and Vincent. Email me with your comments. Thank you very much.
