Have you ever wondered what was the true story behind the 'Hanging Tree'? Because I know I have. That's what made me want to this story. . . to create my own reason as to how the song came about.

It's a multichapter that will have short snipets. The chapters wont be very long, ranging from 1000-2000 words but there will be quite a few of them.

So this chapter is the prolouge sort of thing. I took a part from Mockingjay that made me want to write the story so you can see where my inspiration came from. The prolouge and the first chapter will be short but they will get longer after that. Some things may not make sense straight away, but if you stick through it they soon will. :)

So without further ado hear is the first part of my story. The first chapter won't be up for a bit but I just wanted to give a tiny sneek peek first :)

Prologue-

Pages 145, 146 & 147 of Mockingjay-

"'Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.'

I used to think the murderer was the creepiest guy imaginable. Now, with a few trips to the Hunger Game under my belt, I decide not to judge him without knowing more details. Maybe his lover was already sentenced to death and he was trying to make it easier. To let her know he would be waiting. Or maybe he thought the place he was leaving was worse than death."

Katniss was wrong.

So very, very wrong.

You wouldn't know the true meaning behind those lyrics. . .

You wouldn't know that the murderer was named Adwar. You wouldn't know his lover was Leto. You wouldn't know why he called for her to die alongside him.

You wouldn't know that the song was created beside the Hunger Games. You wouldn't know that it came from a formally innocent man, born and raised in District Twelve. You wouldn't know the true story behind The Hanging Tree.

You wouldn't know any of that.

But you soon will . . .
