A/N: This story was kind of inspired by Umbrella by Rihanna, not a songfic though. Enjoy my first story for Cardcaptor Sakura!
The rain fell at a steady pace on the leaf sodden ground. Her footsteps also were set at a steady pace, not even thinking where she was going. She held her umbrella over her head, leaning the pole against her shoulder to hold the weight. Her thoughts swirled around her head. Yukito. The amazing boy, would he ever like her the same way she liked him? She sighed and glanced at her surroundings. She had walked off her beaten path but she still wasn't that far from home. She slowly took a breath in, then let it out, enjoying the cloud it caused in the chill air.
"Time to get home," she muttered to herself and picked her head up higher to head home. Strolling through the park she was in she saw that a little bit down the path sat a boy on a bench, getting drenched by the pouring rain. Walking closer she saw it was Syaoran. His face was downcast, obviously distraught. She walked up to the bench and asked, "May I sit with you?"
The boy's head whipped around, "Ah, it's you." He said, feigning a smile. Sakura frowned.
"What's the matter?" she asked, sitting down next to him, wincing in the knowledge that she was getting her pants wet doing so.
"Nothing," he replied, his eyes flitting over to something next to him. Sakura looked over. A wilting flower was grasped in his hand next to him. That flower…
Sakura accidentally bumped into Syaoran that morning.
"Oh, I'm sorry about that!" she said hurriedly, she glanced down, the boy was holding a beautiful flower, "Ooh who's that for?" The boy turned beet red.
"Um-I-Uh-"
"Oh no, sorry, I don't need to know who it's for, sorry for asking."
"Well really, um…" he was blushing even worse now. A boy walked past the pair.
"Yukito!!" Sakura called out," Bye Syaoran." The boy watched her chase after the high school student, sadly glancing down at the gift for her.
"That flower, you had it this morning…did something happen?" she asked.
"No, not really," he replied.
"The person you got it for didn't take it?" she asked. His face winced in emotional pain, "Oh, I'm so sorry! I don't need to know. Is there anything I can do to help?" He looked at her, she of course was the one it was for, but she didn't' love him back.
"No…
"Well at least you should get out of this rain, you must be freezing!" he shook his head no, "Here take my umbrella." She handed it to him.
"No, you need it, I'm already wet."
"My house is closer, I can get by. You have a long trip back; you can stop yourself from getting more wet."
"But-"
"Please?" he hesitated, then agreed. The pair stood up, the flower left on the bench, "Hey are you going to take your flower?"
"No, you-you can have it," he stammered, blushing. She smiled.
"Thank you! See you tomorrow!" She turned and raced off to prevent being soaked.
"Your welcome, Sakura." He muttered to himself and smiled. He was able to give her the gift. Sakura, maybe someday…
