This is for Sophie [Screaming Faeries]. Lucissa, and a tad of the Black sisters. As a Christmas present. So MERRY CHRISTMAS!

28. Persephone – She was the goddess of springtime, and was abducted by Hades and made to be his wife, therefore becoming Queen of the Underworld for six months of each year. Write about abduction. Alt; write about Narcissa Malfoy.

Sweet Coincidence

Pure coincidence.

Narcissa had… Expected to see her sister Andromeda marrying Lucius Malfoy. In fact, that was what everyone had expected. From their parents, to her classmates and dorm mates, to Andromeda herself.

But then came the bombshell. Narcissa had made herself watch the arguing between Andromeda and Bellatrix, and had even made herself glare at Edward Tonks at mealtimes, and spit in his face, like Bellatrix did.

For a while, anyway. Pureblood ladies simply didn't spit.

One night, in early August, Andromeda was gone. Narcissa woke to shouting, and then her sister was blasted off the Black Family Tree. And, for a time, that was all anyone was concerned about.

The fact remained. Andromeda had left, and that left a wayward eldest daughter who spent most of the time with her precious 'Dark Lord', and a beautiful youngest daughter that remained both unwed and unspoilt.

When Narcissa was called through to her father's office, she was full of hope. Hope that she might be allowed to wed her sister's old fiancé, the one that had danced with her so elegantly at Bellatrix's wedding to Rodolphus.

The one that had kissed her with such passion, behind the curtains.

Lucius Malfoy was handsome, a Pureblood wizard, he despised Mudbloods and Muggles, and, what's more:

Narcissa Black was unconditionally and unequivocally in love with him.

But weddings were not based on 'love'. Maybe that would be her downfall. She managed to keep her face straight as she was told that, yes; she would be marrying Lucius Abraxas Malfoy.

However, a small giggle escaped her as she left the office. And she let the scroll of parchment roll in her hands in an almost sinful measure.

Then she slept, and dreamt of dresses, and makeup, and her perfect family. Two children, a girl and a boy. And love-filled nights.

She could only hope that Lucius was doing the same.

It was clear that Bellatrix knew of Narcissa's infatuation, especially when she came over with Rodolphus for dinner one night. But, unlike Andromeda, who would have made a comment, Bellatrix simply shrugged.

"One of us is lucky Cissy."

Those words would linger in Narcissa Black's mind until her dying day.
