Belladonna

Old Mortimer Goth sat at the chess table in the den of his home. He had previously been attempting to play himself at the strategy game, but, as one could guess, it was rather difficult.

Mortimer sighed. His new wife Dina looked up from the book she was reading, and noticed Morty's look of dismay. She smiled her pleasant, reassuring smile. Mortimer smiled back, and Dina went back to her reading. Dina had never been able to play chess. She couldn't seem to understand the movement of the pieces, but that didn't really matter to him. She was a good wife, and he loved her, and he knew she loved him back.

But she could never replace Bella.

Bella Goth had disappeared twelve years ago, never to be seen again. The search parties had given up on her, and she was reported as dead. Other people said that she had shown up in Strangetown, but that was unlikely. Mortimer had seen the photos on television, and yes, the woman resembled Bella, but it wasn't her. Still, Morty knew deep in his heart that she was alive. She had to be.

Goth Manor was quiet. Cassandra had married her best friend Darren, after Don Lothario left her the night before their wedding. Alexander had been at college for a few months, so it was just Mortimer and Dina. Cassandra lived across the road with Darren and her newborn daughter, Melanie Goth. Cassie came over from time to time, and they would spend hours at the chess table. Mortimer always won, of course, but it didn't seem to bother his daughter. Alexander, however, couldn't stand Dina Caliente, so he hardly visited.

Mortimer got up and strode into the kitchen.

"Where are you going?" asked Dina. Ever since the doctors told her that she could expect Mortimer's child in a few months, Morty had convinced her that she needed all the rest she could get.

"Just making dinner, dear," he replied. He almost reached for the phone, tempted to call Cassandra. He scrapped the thought, though.

"Is it that time already?" came another of Dina's questions.

"Well, it is six. What would you like?"

Dina hesitated. "Would you mind making some salmon?"

"Anything for you, dear." He opened the freezer half of the refrigerator, and was about to reach for the frozen fish when the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it, Dina," said Mortimer. He put the salmon down, and walked toward the front door. On the porch stood a tanned woman with black hair and dark sunglasses.

"Mortimer Goth?" said the woman. Her voice was lovely, and Mortimer suddenly longed for Bella.

"That would be me," he said.

The woman took off he sunglasses. There was no mistaking her green eyes.

"Bella??" Mortimer cried. He practically leapt into her arms. She hugged him tightly, and kissed his cheek.

"It's been too long, Morty," she whispered.

"Where have you been?" he asked, astonished.

"Can I come inside?" she asked, "I can't talk well on my feet." She laughed.

Same old Bella Mortimer thought, and began to lead her inside.

"Ah, it's good to be back," she sighed. That's when she noticed the blonde woman on the loveseat, her belly heavy with pregnancy.

"Bella!?" Dina cried, almost in horror.

"Dina Caliente? What are you doing here?" Bella asked, more to Mortimer, though.

"You may want to sit down, Bella," said Mortimer, dreading the following conversation.

I got bored, so I decided to write a Sims story. It probably won't progress further, but what do you think?
