Daddies and Daisies
"Daddy! Daddy!" The soft pitter-patter of tiny feet echoed through the cold walls of Rapture. "I found a present for you!"
A little girl's hand reach out, touching the arm of what looked like a giant, rust-covered robot; she referred to as her 'Daddy'. The massive creature slowly turned, his circular helmet coming into view, glowing yellow orbs hiding behind a caged enclosure. A groan sounded from the large head as it tilted down toward the child who was previously touching him. She was now swaying back and forth, holding her blue dress in her left hand as she hid her right hand behind her back.
"Look Daddy! I found these next to an Angel! I picked it for you!" The Little Sister's right hand shot out from behind her back, holding a freshly picked daisy out to her gentle giant. Her glowing yellow eyes lit up when the large hand reached out, gingerly taking the plucked flower with utmost care. "Do you like it?" The girl was giddy with glee; she giggled and clapped happily.
The Big Daddy took two steps back, all his attention on the flower in his left gloved hand. He slowly sat down on a large, wooden crate that creaked under his substantial weight, but did not give in. He propped the giant drill connected to his right on his thigh, attention still fixated on the little flower. He twirled the green stem with his thumb and index finger, and then emitted another groan, a very happy and content noise.
"I knew you'd like it, Daddy! I just knew you would!"
And the young girl was completely correct. He loved it. Daddies and daisies. How well they fit together.
