Little New Years story between Rex and OC

"Sir," Rex walked up to Anakin, "you requsted me?" Anankin looked up from what he was doing, "Oh, yes. You kept asking if we would get some mission for the week. Well it turns out were are being put on leave for the next 2 weeks at least. Go tell the men they can continue with their plans. Oh, and you know who might like to be included in some plans with the guy," Anakin finished just slightly above a whisper, and nodded toward Iris.

She was talking to some troops, her hair glinting in the last little rays of light of sunset. The sky was a pink, some lavender, and a dark blue. Rex knew Anakin was watching him, he knew there was something between them, but Rex didn't know what. She had been nice to him, which he returned, but there was something under that niceness. The mountains behind them served as a kind of barrier from the rest of the planet.

Corusant wasn't all the lights and everything else that they made it to be. Iris had shown only the few she trully trusted the location of the last mountain range on the planet. It was beautiful, Rex couldn't deny it.

(Skips to night before new years)

"Iris, I was wondering if you had any plans for New Years, the guy have their own plans that I don't think would be good if I went along." Rex felt weird asking her this, it was like him asking her out. She smiled, "No I have no plans. You know what? Why don't we go to the mountains, I've only gone once durring New Years, but it was just beautiful."
(Later that night...)
Rex and Iris were out in the mountains, alone. Rex had no clue what he would end up doing in less than an hour. "You know, this was one of the only spots where the Corusant lights don't blockout the stars." They were on their backs looking at the stars. Rex glanced at Iris again, then without realizing it he was kissing her. She seemed stuned, blinking rapidly.

His hand was on the back of her head and the center of her back. After, he looked away till he felt her hand on his shoulder, "Rex, you could have told me sooner." He didn't respond, but she gently made him look at her. "I didn't say I didn't like it," Iris whispered when she was about an inch from his mouth. Rex pulled her into a kiss again, this time, not a seed of dout about his feelings for her.

"This is beautiful," Iris said gazing out across the untouched landscape. "I see something even better," Rex whispered into her ear. Iris smiled and turned to look at him, (11: 59: 41) "Happy New Years," was the only thing said before they kissed again and there was a sound of the New Year.
