(Winry opened her mailbox and found a small box on top of the Automail weekly.)
Handing the magazine to Mr. Garfield, Winry walks into the kitchen and sits down.
'It's addressed to me… from him…' It had been a little over a year since he left on a train bound west, taking her heart with him. Edward Elric had proposed and swooped off. She sighed. He never sends cards, or phone calls, or letter, or anything… She took a knife, opened the box, and hesitantly peered in.
"A cassette and a small note? What in the world…." "Hey Mr. Garfield, will you bring me a cassette player from the hallway?"
"Sure Winry dear." Placing it on the table next to her, Mr. Garfield plopped down beside her, stealing the note as the music started.
"Another summer day has come and gone away, In Paris and Rome, But I wanna go home, Mmmmmmmm
Maybe surrounded by a million people, I still feel all alone. I wanna go home. Oh, I miss you, you know
And I've been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you, each one a line or two: "I'm fine baby, how are you?"
I would send them but I know that it's just not enough. My words were cold and flat and you deserve more than that
Another airplane, another sunny place, I'm lucky I know, but I wanna go home. I've got to go home
Let me go home. I'm just too far from where you are. I wanna come home
And I feel just like I'm living someone else's life. It's like I just stepped outside when everything was going right.
And I know just why you could not come along with me. This was not your dream but you always believed in me
Another winter day has come and gone away in even Paris and Rome and I wanna go home. Let me go home
And I'm surrounded by a million people I still feel alone, and I wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know...
He smiled at Winry, as tears began to fall down her face. The face splitting smile was just so brilliant that Mr. Garfield couldn't help but read the not in his hand.
"Winry~
I heard this song and I realized just how foolish I am…. Every single word is true. Every Single word. I'm so sorry…
~Ed"
He wondered why he underlined that one sentence until the little part of the song ended,
Let me go home. I've had my run. Baby, I'm done, I'm coming back home
Let me go home, it will all be all right. I'll be home tonight, I'm coming back home
"..Every single word?... He doesn't mean…" They both thought when they were interrupted by a knocking at the door. Winry rushed to the door while Mr. Garfield stood near the wall to hear.
"Forgiven, you foolish man." He heard Winry say as a young man laughed. Mr. Garfield just smiled and cried.
*A/n. This was my first story I've ever published. I added the middle song lyrics on because I could. lol. The prompt was foolish and the "bonus" was future. Not that great but also not that bad. :) Tell me what I did, didn't do, and stuff. Thanks for reading ~LilyChris*
