Disclaimer: I do not own the storyline or any of the characters from Trinity Blood...sadly...(Dietrich!)
Esther stretched outside the train platform as she waited for her train to arrive. Abel was rambling about something, but Esther had learned to tune out most of the noise around her. Lately, she hadn't been sleeping well because of her dreams. The train had pulled up in front of them, and Abel led Esther to their seats. They sat down, and waited for the train to leave for Rome.
"Esther, are you feeling ill?" Abel asked and she looked at him.
"No, it's just that I'm a little tired, that's all." She said and smiled. That seemed to convince Abel and he nodded. The train started to move and Abel excused himself. Esther stared out the window and the scenery outside blurred. She closed her eyes and fell asleep quickly. Her dream soon followed and it flickered through her mind.
She was standing somewhere she didn't recognize, but she knew that she was abandoned. She felt a chill run up her spine as she realized that she was all alone. She began to look for a way out of wherever she was, when suddenly she couldn't move. She struggled for what seemed like forever, but nothing happened. Finally she cried out for someone to help, but nothing answered her back but a laugh, his laugh.
Right away Esther knew that it was Dietrich. She would never forget his voice; it was imprinted on her memory. She saw Dietrich come before her and Esther shuddered away from him. This only seemed to amuse him more, and he held her face in his hands.
"You really never cease to amaze me Esther. Perhaps you're too smart for your own good…" He said and came closer. "…another thing I love about you, my star." Dietrich said and pulled Esther's face to his. She knew that Dietrich was about to kiss her, but to her surprise she didn't pull away this time. Dietrich's was so close to her that she could feel his breath. Esther started to embrace him when she opened her eyes.
She rubbed at her eyes, not realizing that she had actually dozed off. Abel was looking at her, and it seemed as if he was laughing.
"Father Nightroad?" She asked, before she realized that he was laughing at her. "What?" She demanded. Abel continued to laugh slightly as he answered.
"You must have been having some dream, you kept tossing and turning, and well…" Abel started to laugh again. Esther glared at him and looked towards the window again. The window shot back her reflection and Esther realized what Abel was laughing at, she was blushing. Esther looked away from the window and felt her cheeks burning up. Abel laughed a little more before he spoke again.
"So who were you dreaming about?" He asked while smiling. Esther knew that she wouldn't tell anyone, so she decided to stretch the truth.
"I don't remember actually." She said and shrugged her shoulders. Abel seemed to buy it and leaned back in his seat.
"Well I hope you at least remembered the feeling, you seemed to be enjoying yourself." He said, and went back to reading a paper that he had with him.
Esther turned to look out the window and thought to herself. I was enjoying myself…but why? I shouldn't have felt that way towards him…but he was just…no! I can't feel that way about him, I just can't! Esther scolded herself in her mind and sighed heavily. I need to stop thinking about him… Esther thought to herself and closed her eyes again.
She quickly snapped her eyes open again when she saw Dietrich's face. Esther stared out the window once again, this time focusing on something in the distance to keep her from distractions…to keep her from thinking about how she enjoyed Dietrich being so close to her.
