A Nameless Bloom

A nameless bloom drifts away in the wind,

A delicate throwing star of color.

Where does she go? Where will destiny take her?

Her spirit is as free as a bird, only in death,

Her role decided at birth, what fate controls.

She cannot love, she cannot feel tenderness.

She may be passionate and cunning, formed into

A killing machine, yet she is human too.

Humans feel, while she was trained not to.

So when she does exactly what is forbidden,

Her heart aches with the vulnerable feeling

That goes against everything she was trained

To become. A punishment follows thereafter,

Punishment for feeling emotion, everything

Becoming jeopardized, erasing what stepped out

In front of a life laid out for her.

Author's Note:

Wrote this free verse for school during our poetry unit. The poem was named after my horrible story that I deleted awhile ago. Anyway, just wanted to post this. I might write a sestina or a villanelle as well... I'm still alive and kicking by the way, and I'm also working on a new story. Reviews?
