Author's Note: Hello lovely readers! I hope you like my new fic, I had an idea for an amusing short story months ago and finally got around to it! Juvia is one of my favourite FT characters and I thought this would be a fun idea. Although I love FT I don't know it or its characters as well as I do Naruto so I apologise in advance if Juvia verges on OOC. I'd also like to clarify on ages, this is when Juvia is younger so she's roughly the same age as Team 7, give or take a year, and it's set in between Zabuza and the Chunin exams.

Hope you enjoy it, and I would love to hear your thoughts on it so feel free to review/follow/fav!

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or Fairy Tail or any characters, story, ideas that are associated with either series. What I do own is any OC's that may (or may not) turn up.

The girl with the gloomy countenance walked slowly through the streets of the dreary town she had the misfortune to call home, letting her feet take her to her favourite spot just north of the local magic guild. The guild towered ominously over the surrounding establishments, and quite often loud noises, raucous laughter and shouting could be heard from within, but the girl all dressed in blue didn't mind it too much, she had even considered joining a couple of times but alas there were no "tortured souls" for her to relate to, nor anyone with whom she shared a magical affinity. Oh cruel world, how isolated she did feel, it was as if a torrential rain poured down on her aching, misunderstood heart. Or that could just possibly be the physical manifestation of her magical power.

Finally reaching the peaceful place that others tended to overlook, she walked over to an ancient willow tree, whose branches brushed the dark surface of the lake, and sat down.

How long she sat there, hypnotised by the eerie sway of the willow trees' branches, she could not say, for the humidity from the rain had broken her watch. After what felt like hours something peculiar and quite distressing happened; a rumbling noise began drowning out the sounds of rustling leaves and a nearby paddling of ducks. Then an unearthly light, that shone brighter and brighter with each passing second, engulfed her vision, and just when it had consumed all else a loud crack filled her ears followed by a soundless darkness that enveloped all.

When eventually she came too, this melancholy girl in blue, it wasn't the same dreary town she had been in only moments ago. It was somewhere new, somewhere different and felt altogether slightly odd. The warm sun shone down through breaks in the cumulus clouds, upon lush green grass and gentle rolling hills, bird song filled the air along with the hustle and bustle from the village she had materialised just outside of. Even the rain had abated slightly allowing her brief glimpses of sunshine for the first time in her life.

*Oh what to do? Should Juvia explore? I've never seen anything like this before…* For she quite often referred to herself in the third person, even in her head. *But what if the people are mean? Juvia can always punish them and make it rain if they are!*

So, tentatively Juvia Lockser made for the large open gates, temporarily distracted from her usual down demeanour.

As Juvia, in all her gloom ridden glory, entered the village she stared wide eyed all around her, taking in the sights of the strange place that differed greatly from her home. So completely distracted from the path ahead Juvia stumbled and would have fallen to the puddle ridden ground had someone not caught her just in time.

"You should watch where you're going." An attractive boy, with hair the colour of midnight, cautioned her not unkindly.

He held her briefly in his arms, and she felt her heart flutter at his touch, *My heart is racing, but why? Could it be this boy? He's just so attractive, I think… I think I am in love!* Then he was helping her to stand alone once more.

"My-my name is Juvia, Juvia Lockser." Were the only words that left her lips, but her mind was a cacophony of thoughts and emotions. *Oh I must know more about him, Juvia's handsome prince!*

"Sasuke Uchiha." He replied, and a hint of something akin to pain or determination flashed within his onyx eyes when he uttered his surname.

*Oh my, I can sense it, could he be a tortured soul? Like Juvia? Oh such a perfect couple we would make! It must be destiny that brought us together!* Her hands clasped together in excitement at the thought of finding her soul mate.

"You're not from the village, are you." It was more of an observation than an enquiry.

"Juvia is new here, would Sasuke be able to show me around?" She asked, tentatively.

"I've got to go and train. But do you see that red tower?" The broodingly beautiful Sasuke pointed back towards the village to a large building that dwarfed all others. "Someone there should be able to help you. See ya."

As he started strolling away, hands casually resting in the pockets of his crisp white shorts, Juvia called out to him, "Thank you. Until we meet again, my love."

He turned his head towards her, an eyebrow raised, "Err, what was that?"

"Um nothing, nothing, I was just saying goodbye, Sasuke." A blush tinting her cheeks as she tried to cover up her accidental declaration of love.

With a curt nod of acceptance he walked away, leaving the utterly love-struck Juvia to stare dreamily after him.

The rain gently dripped down upon Juvia's pale pink umbrella as she made her way towards the towering terracotta building, if only the mysterious boy had agreed to walk her around the village, life would be ever so perfect. Then a thought struck her *Oh no, what if Juvia never sees Sasuke again? My eyes will never again behold such perfection! No I refuse to allow such a thing, JUVIA WILL SEE SASUKE ONCE MORE, NOTHING WILL GET IN THE WAY OF OUR ETERNAL LOVE!* Determination filled the petite mage with a fiery energy so she quickened her pace.

Half an hour and four wrong turns later Juvia arrived at the large wooden doors of her destination, could it be the Magic Guild of this peculiar place? Perhaps someone inside could show her the village and tell her more about Sasuke, her intended inquiries into the villages' location in relation to her home town a distant memory at this point. *Oooh maybe, if I wait long enough my true love will return and we shall be reunited! An excellent plan, Juvia is so smart!*

As she walked up to the grand entrance a girl of around the same age and height as the mage opened the door, closely followed by a boy with hair as golden as buttercups. The girl with the lustrously long bubble gum pink hair sighed exasperatedly at her companion, "No, Naruto, I do not want to have lunch with you."

Plucking up the courage to ask the two, Juvia spoke aloud "Um excuse me, could you-"

"But Sakuraaaa, Kakashi-Sensei said we should spend more time together outside of missions." The boy called Naruto argued, unintentionally interrupting the rain girl.

An overlooked Juvia tried again, "Hello, um, my name is Juvia, please could-"

"I'll share my ramen with you and everythi-OW what as that for?"

By this point the pink haired Sakura had noticed the strange girl in blue, she thumped the boy on the head and scolded him "Naruto! Don't be so rude, you interrupted someone!" Then the scowl morphed into a welcoming smile as she turned to the girl and said, "I'm sorry about Naruto, he can be so clueless sometimes. I'm Sakura by the way, what's your name?"

"Hello! My name is Juvia, I just arrived at the village and I was hoping to find someone who could show me around." She smiled nervously at them.

Sakura returned the smile, "Naruto and I will take you around, we've got the afternoon off and Naruto's buying lunch!"

"Err, Sakura? I kinda just meant yo-"

"Really? You will? Oh thank you both very much, Juvia is looking forward to it!"

At seeing Juvias' happy and grateful expression Naruto gave in, "Yeah ok, I guess."

The little group wandered the streets for hours, taking in all the sights and leaving nothing out. The blue haired mage looking around in wonderment, everything about this quaint village differed to her home country; the fashion, the architecture, from what she could see even the jobs were strange. But the thing that stuck out the most to her was the apparent lack of magic shops, in fact there were no magical objects to be seen anywhere. In their place stood weapons stores selling a variety of knives and swords as well as an array of rather normal everyday objects that, to Juvia, looked out of place. Why were those shiny silver toothpicks or that beautiful fan being sold in a weapons shop? How very odd indeed.

Eventually their tour of the village came to an end as the "Hokage's Tower" as Sakura had called it, came back into view at the end of the street. At which point Naruto declared he wouldn't take another step unless it was in the direction of Ichiraku's, and to his delight the two girls' stomachs rumbled their agreement so, with the energetic blonde leading the way, they turned away from the tower in search of lunch.

As they sat at the bar, legs dangling from the tall stools, the talkative girl with the bubble gum hair asked Juvia all sorts of questions, from where she grew up to how she kept her hair perfectly curled. Although she wasn't used to such attention, it was… nice. Up until now the only attention Juvia had had from others was to make fun of her, Sakura genuinely seemed to be showing an interest.

"So do you live in one of the hidden villages? Are you a ninja like us?" She inquired.

"Um I don't think so, and we don't have "ninja" where I'm from. Are they like mages?" She had only overheard kids talking about "ninja's" before, but they were a made up thing back home.

"What's a mage? Do they fight each other? You must be from somewhere very far away if you've never heard of ninja. Are there any cute guys there? Oh, is there a special someone back home?" Sakura giggled playfully as she moved the subject on to boys.

Naruto groaned and continued guzzling down his fourth bowl of noodles. Juvia blushed a little, thinking of a particular pair of dark brooding eyes, "Not at home, but I actually met someone when I got to the village, oh he was the most perfect boy I've ever set eyes on!"

Sakura's eyes widened and she gasped, "Really? Did you speak to him? What did he look like, oh I wonder who he was; maybe I know him? If I do I could set you up! Oh this is so exciting!" She practically squealed the last bit out.

Encouraged by her new friends' enthusiasm, Juvia went on to describe the love of her life, "He saved Juvia, I lost my balance and would have fallen to the ground but he caught me in his strong arms and held me for a few romantic seconds. His dark hair shimmered beautifully like the feathers of a raven, and his eyes captured Juvia's heart with their smouldering intensity and inner turmoil. It was destiny that brought us together!"

"Ooh wow, he sounds dreamy, and strangely familiar… did he tell you his nam-"

But before Sakura could finish her sentence the curtain flap was pushed aside, the girls turned to see someone entering the restaurant, "Hey."

"Sasuke!" Cried both girls in delight, and then turned to look at each other in shock, and inadvertently continued talking in perfect synchronicity, demanding answers, "Wait, how do you know him?"

"This is the wonderful guy who saved me this morning!" Declared Juvia.

"He's my teammate! We've known each other for years!" Sakura exclaimed defensively.

"He had his arms around me! We are two star-crossed lovers, destined to be together!"

"Oh yeah? Well, I've actually spent time with him, longer than 5 minutes, and he's saved my life before, which beats saving you from falling on your big ass!"

"Sasuke needs a real woman, and real women have curves!"

"Back off, hag! I saw him first!"

"You are my eternal rival in love! I won't give up!"

"Oh yeah? Well neither will I!"

The jealous bickering bounced back and forth between them, whilst Naruto sat staring with a forgotten mouthful of ramen hanging out of his mouth. Sasuke, the object of the commotion, muttered something along the lines of "What a pain." and departed Ichiraku's unnoticed to find a more peaceful place to have lunch.

Eventually the shouts and insults died down long enough for them to realise the boy they were fighting over was no longer there and, too tired to continue their argument, they parted ways; Sakura heading home and Juvia to the hotel they had booked her into earlier. Naruto, on the other hand, turned his attention back to his meal and complained to no one in particular about how he couldn't see why all the girls acted like that around Sasuke.
