This is Chapter 1. Second one is in progress!

Fading away

Needlekit, Rainkit, and Emberkit were born different. But beyond their special abilities, they are destined to save the Clans. But what will happen to Volekit, their lonely sister?

"Emberkit, get off me!" meowed Rainkit, purring contentedly. They wrestled each other for a long time before Icekit finally surrendered.

Needlekit was the only one who didn't play. But he was smart. If they played a game, Needlekit's team always won.

Redpool watched her kits play. They were already so skilled and she was very proud of them.

Volekit sat in the corner, lonely. Her mother and father never paid attention to her, and she wasn't special like her littermates. She wished to be special like everyone else.

Birchstrike padded over to the nursery. "I came to see my three wonderful kits!"

"Birchstrike, you have four kits. Don't forget Volekit!" mewed Leafcloud.

It's not like he'll listen, Volekit thought resentfully. At least Leafcloud stood up for her...

She approached Sunkit and Thrushkit, but they too wanted nothing to do with her. It was worth a try, I guess...she thought.

She had nothing else to do. No cat would even acknowledge her existence.

She was only three moons old, and her problem was already beyond solving.

At this point, even an insult would make her happy. She only wanted to be seen. It was as if she was forever invisible.

And it was all because of her stupid littermates. They were born special. Compared to them, she was completely insignificant.

Volekit had nothing to distinguish her from any other cat.

And it killed her inside.

Rainkit saw Volekit in the corner of the nursery, looking even more depressed than usual.

All Rainkit wanted to do was talk to her, but peer pressure forced her not to. And she had to get used to that, because leaders have to make decicions that make the whole Clan satisfied.

No matter how bad she felt, she couldn't do what she wanted to.

Rainkit was a natural leader. Other cats would always listen to what she said.

In the opinion of her littermates, it was because she was just a kit, so they would naturally treat her like that.

The only thing that confused Rainkit was how they were so smart. They were so young, and yet they were already so developed.

But she was different. Her siblings didn't think that, but Rainkit was absolutely sure.

She would show them.
