Unseen Angel
*~*~*~*~*
*It's been a long, long time since I looked
into the mirror
I guess that I was blind
Now my reflection's getting clearer
Now that you're gone things will never be
the same again*
Spike watched her with her friends at the Bronze. Talking, having fun. Things they could never do together. But now, unlike before, she was different. They couldn't see it, but he could. It was just below the surface. That secret longing to be in the darkness, with him…
*There's not a minute that goes by every
hour of every day
You're such a part of me
But I just pulled away
Well, I'm not the same girl
you used to know
I wish I said the words I never showed.
I know you had to go away
I died just a little, and I feel it now
You're the one I need
I believe that I would cry just a little
Just to have you back now
Here with me.
You know that silence is loud when all
you hear is your heart
And I wanted so badly just to be a part of
something strong and true
But I was scared and left it all behind.
I know you had to go away
I died just a little, and I feel it now
You're the one I need
I believe that I would cry just a little
Just to have you back now
Here with me.
And I'm asking
And I'm wanting you to come back to me
Please?*
Buffy listened to the music. 'Damn, this song totally relates to me and Spike. Wait… did I just… bad Buffy… bad. Maybe Spike could… No! Bad! Spike cannot punish you.'
Her thoughts rambled on until she felt him. There had only been one vampire who she could identify when he walked into a room, and that was Angel. But even then is was because she loved him. If Spike affected her like this, did that mean…
"Buffy, you there?" Xander asked.
"Huh, yeah. Sorry."
"S'ok. You just kinda zoned out." Willow stated.
"Yeah, well…" Buffy trailed off.
"Come on. Lets dance." Xander dragged all on them onto the dance floor for the end of the song. All the while, Buffy never felt his gaze falter.
*I never will forget that look upon
your face
How you turned away and left
without a trace
But I understand that you did what you
had to do
And I thank you*
Spike watched her move on the dance floor. He had once called himself love's bitch, and there was no lie in that statement.
"Bloody hell," he muttered and went to her.
He grabbed her shoulder and turned her around. Buffy looked at him and, before she could protest, he lowered his mouth to hers in a searing kiss. A kiss that was full of emotion and left little to be said. As it went on the entire world around them seemed to fall away.
*I know you had to go away
I died just a little, and I feel it now
You're the one I need
I believe that I would cry just a little
Just to have you back now
Here with me*
When the song finished, they pulled apart. He held her green gaze with his icy blue one, and said the words she thought she dreaded to hear.
"I love you, Buffy."
"I know," she paused to look at his. "And I love you too, Spike." When he just stared at her dumfounded, she added, "I think this is the part where you kiss me."
He nodded and kissed her like they'd never kissed before. All the while leaving the rest of the gang speechless as they watched their confession of love.
