This song has plagued me to write. I don't know if I really like this, but my friends said it was good. I don't know if I should trust their judgment.

Disclaimer: Lord of the Rings is not mine; the verses were penned by the band My Chemical Romance... I have nothing but this keyboard and the computer.

And never again
No never again
They gave us two shots
To the back of the head
And we're all dead now

- 'I Never Told You What I did for a Living' by My Chemical Romance

The lantern swung, emitting a dim light through the dank dungeon. There was but one prisoner in this area of the dungeon. It was a small fellow, chained fast to the wall. His head of dark curls was downcast, large blue eyes staring at the dirty floor below him.

So much time had past since they had been together. The Halfling had no idea how long he had been imprisoned in this place; though it felt like a lifetime had past. He missed them, and he missed fresh air, and the sun's gentle beams, anything beyond this grim world that he existed in now. Though, he hardly believed that he possessed the strength to move, even if he were not chained.

The Uruk-hai had come upon them before they had time to prepare themselves. It had been a slaughter. They had had no way to escape, no protection, but they did not go down without a fight. Boromir had died trying to protect his kin. He had tried so hard to save them to no avail. Aragorn fell trying to avenge Boromir; he was pierced through the heart. Legolas and Gimli fell together.

They had taken the Hobbits to Orthanc, then to Baradur. Once it had been found that Frodo was the one to carry the Ring, the others were useless. All four were tortured, then Frodo was forced to watch as his cousins and his dearest friend were slowly killed.

They were all killed, every last one of them. Frodo hung listlessly from the grimy wall, listening to the drip of water in some corner. "And we're all dead now." He murmured, his eyes closing, shutting out the dim light of his cage.
