Someday

A Beechfur Oneshot

Disclaimer: I do not own anything related to any of the characters, plots, settings, and etc. to Warriors. Erin Hunter (all 3 or 4 of them) does.

Beechfur watched as the stars slowly appeared across a darkened sky. He lifted his paws to the sky, cupping a star between his claws.

Beechstar. The name echoed in his head. Beechstar, Beechstar.

A frigid wind began to pick up, blowing through his light brown fur and piercing his bones. But it didn't matter to the young warrior.

The lake rippled, the black waves lapping the shore, only mouselengths from his paws. Beechfur took a step back, laughing coldly. The water wouldn't get to him. He could control it. He could control everthing. Someday.

He could see it now. He would be named deputy. He would become leader. Then, he would take over the forest. It would be his. All of it. Someday.

Beechfur unsheathed his long claws, pressing them into the pebbles along the shoreline. Power hunger overwhelmed him, blinding him in a black tide.

The light brown tabby opened his eyes. The scent of blood washed over his scent glands, and the warm lake water lapped his paws. Wait. It was Leafbare. Lake water shouldn't be warm….

He looked down, screeching in terror. Red, hot blood stained his paws. The screams of cats in pain and terror echoed in his ears.

"No…No…" Beechfur murmured. It wasn't worth it! "I can't do this Hawkfrost. I can't…"

Suddenly, the terrible vision went away. He could see himself standing atop a great rock, cats lined up before him, ready to cater to his every whim….

Beechfur's heartbeat slowed. "Hawkfrost?"

A pair of icy blue eyes appeared out of the blackness. "Beechfur…." a silky smooth voice purred. Beechfur gulped.

"Hawkfrost, I don't want to do this anymore. I…I can't just watch innocent cats be killed."

The eyes narrowed. "Don't you want to be leader?" the dark tabby hissed.

"Yes!" Beechfur couldn't keep a desperate sounding tone out of his voice.

"Blood must be spilled then, Beechfur. Life isn't all mice and moonlight. You have to fight your way to the top." Hawkfrost growled.

Beechfur nodded. "Yes, yes. I understand now." he dipped his head.

Hawkfrost grunted. "Good."

"…Do I have to kill Mistystar?" the light brown tom asked quietly.

"Maybe. But not now. We will have to wait. Someday, Beechfur, you will lead the forest."

The eyes faded, until all that was left was a lingering scent of the great warrior. Beechfur sighed.

That word had wedged its way into the young warrior's brain. The word that promised everything, but frustrated him past the limits of StarClan. That word was all that kept him tied to his Clan, tied to the lake. Someday.

AN – Aha! The dark side of Beechfur is shown…..I hoped you liked it, please review!
