AN: Written for Gamma Orionis's Harry Potter Femmeslash Project Challenge. And after drifting through the Harry Potter wiki page, I found a number of ultra-obscure characters from the games that haven't a single fic to their name. Needless to say, my muse wants to adopt them all. ; D So two birds with one stone here.
It was great game Gobstones that brought them together. Two girls, from different countries and different backgrounds fell in love over the great game of gobstones in the summer of nineteen ninety-five.
It started one dull evening as Poppy Caxton wandered out into the streets of a magical town in France. Her parent were busy and she was bored when she spotted a group of teenagers huddled around a game of gobstones. She watched them for a little while before one of the girls looked up at her.
"Do you fancy a game English?" she asked with a slight French accent and Poppy flushed with pleasure
"Yes please," she said excitedly and the other girl gestured for her to sit down next to her.
"I am Maria Sessant," the girl said and Poppy allowed herself to be drawn into the other girl's beautiful blue eyes. "I 'ave not seen you around 'ere."
"We've only just arrived from England," Poppy explained and Maria smiled.
"Ah, zat would explain 'ow I did not notice such a pretty young witch." She said and Maria blushed, much to the amusement of her new friends and they settled down to play what was to be a fiercely played game of gobstones. It wasn't until after the game that Maria made her move on Poppy.
The game was over and the friends had all gone their separate ways. All, that is, except for Poppy and Maria, who were left.
"Poppy," Maria began slowly, "How do you think about girls who like girls?"
"I'm not sure if I am one," Poppy admitted, not sure what it was that made her spill THAT particular doubt. Maria leaned closer and Poppy felt her heart beat faster.
"You would…not have a problem with zat?" she asked and Maria shook her head. "Would you be…open to being with a girl like zat?" Poppy nodded, heart in her mouth and Maria leaned forward to kiss her on the lips.
"Why..?"
"Because you are beautiful and life is too short to miss out." Maria replied with a smile.
"Th-th-thank you," Poppy said, blushing slightly, before returning the kiss. "Life is far too short indeed."
The rest of the summer passed in a blur of games and kisses and ended with promises to stay in touch. And Poppy Caxton would always remember the summer of nineteen ninety-five as the summer she realised what she was.
