I had to toughen up and stop complaining. This is what I would have to do if I wanted everything to be the same between us. I put on my tough-girl outfit which was able to cover up my vulnerability but leave me cold to the core and I left to go meet him. Forever was gonna start tonight if I could get my act together and meet him in a smoky room.
I walked down the street and saw him standing there as we had planned. I had my confessions and it was now or never, as I would never live forever but could create memories that would. Signed, sealed, and delivered to him under the city lights. Yes.
"I'm sorry I made you come out this late but I hate it when others are listening." He spoke quietly and stared at the ground. He was like a little kid nervous for the school play, but he seemed a bit more mature. Unlike me. I was trembling and learned the hard way the toughest clothes exposed the softest souls. I wish we could just get it over with and he could hug me, but if I wanted to make a memory, I couldn't steal a piece of the future.
"I don't care, it's nice to have a change of scenery. I just don't understand why this is so important to you to make sure nobody is watching me. You know I hate people."
"I hate them too. But I do love a certain angel."
And then my dreams came true. He hugged me under the moonlight and I could feel the night getting to me. I giggled and began to chase him around on the street, like a shadow of the night trying to capture his heart. He chased me around too, and it was this moment when I felt infinite. Absolutely infinite.
