Prologue

Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Scarlette. Now, in a more literal sense this girl was not as young and innocent as she once was, you could say that she had a change of heart. The young girl who once roamed through the village formerly loved by its inhabitants had disappeared, transfigured into the reclusive and hard outer shell of a stubborn and quite boyish young lady. Her bright naiveness which once illuminated the village turned into the dullness of a sophisticated and rather common teen.

During the past years of our young Scarlette, I suppose that it was around this time of year when she was presented a gift from her dear Granny. Her gift was a red cape. The thick luscious red velvet cape was handmade by Granny; edged with black and red lace and graceful climbing rose bushes embroidered with a ligher shade of scarlet. The whole village thought that the energetic colour suited the young girl who was the only beacon of light in the drab village. Because Scarlette stood out so much she was given the nickname Little Red Riding Hood.

As I once said Scarlette (or Red as she is more commonly referred to) is a very different girl, perhaps because of her encounter with the wolf? Whatever the reason, on that frigid day in February when Red delivered some food to her dear Granny who had fallen ill. When Red got there a wolf posing as Granny, tried to eat her, she realized that the creature wasn't her Granny and so she slayed the beast.

Shortly after slaying the wolf Scarlette had left the village, after being suspected of the murder of her Grandmother. At this young age Red was chased from the miniscule village and was forced to live in the forest or the Wildwood. The Wildwood became Red's home, a place of comfort, of joy and of loneliness. Hiding in the forest for a good third of her life Red became accustomed to the desolate, routinal lifestyle.

It was only recently that Red has started to travel when her home in the Wildwood was burnt down, once again forcing her to leave from her second homely residence. Being shoved into a new world of migrancy Red wasn't aggravated per se, but longing for another home; such as her former hometown...

And must I say dear, dear readers... This is where the story of Scarlett Ryder; Little Red Riding Hood the outcast begins...
