A Demon's Mask
Chapter 1: The Return
(Author Note: Listen the first chapter just gives out info. So it's
kinda dull. But plz bear with me.)
Kagome popped up out of the well. The first thing on her mind was to
take a bath. She reeked of blood and dirt. She had a math quiz the
next day. She sighed as she walked from the shrine to her house. As
she walked in the door she yelled, "Mom I'm home!" Her mother walked
out from a doorway and said, "Hi dear, would you like something to
eat?" "No thanks, I'd rather take a bath but thanks anyways." "Oh, ok.
Just drop your clothes off in the basket and put it outside the
bathroom. When you're finished, dinner will be ready." "Ok, thanks.
What are we having for dinner?" "Fried rice, chicken, and pickles."
"Sounds good, see ya." "Ok dear"
As Kagome soaked in the tub while looking intently at the jewel shards
she was holding in her hand. She sighed once more set the shards on
the side of the tub and dunked herself. She washed her hair and body
and then she shaved. After that she soaked some more and enjoyed the
nice hot water. She thought about Inuyasha. "He should be ok for 3
days, he only has a couple of scratches." She thought to herself. She
immersed herself in the hot water once more and went down to eat. The
alarm clock went off, 6:00 A.M. Kagome moaned rolled over and turned
it off. She slowly rose up from the bed, yawned and wiped her eyes.
Her cat Buyo suddenly pounced her so hard she fell back on her bed.
Buyo licked her lovingly. KAGOME: "Buyo stop it that tickles!!!"
HAHAHAHAHAHA, she laughed. Kagome grabbed Buyo and put him on the
floor and patted him on his head. Souta walked past. He was brushing
his teeth. He threw her her uniform.
"Hurry up sis mom made breakfast, if you want any you'd better
get down there before grandfather does. "I'll try too." She smiled
Kagome closed the door. Then slipped into her uniform. She ran to the
bathroom. As she did she glanced at the clock it said 6:13 A.M. She
quickly brushed her teeth and hair. She ran down stairs and into the
kitchen. Too late, her grandfather was already there, and most of the
food was gone. She grabbed a piece of toast and some bacon shoved it
in her mouth and ran to the door as she started to slip on her shoes,
her mother spoke up. "Do you want more to eat dear? I could cook you
something." Kagome glanced at the clock, it said 6:20 A.M. "No thanks,
I've got to get going." "Its only 6:20 school doesn't start till
7:15." "I know but I got to study."
"Ok dear, have a good day." "I will" She grabbed her books and
ran out the door. She grabbed her bike and was off to school. She
turned on the sidewalk and was out of site in a few minutes. Moments
later a girl wearing a wearing black leather boots, black leather
pants, a black T-shirt that said demon in red sparkly letters on the
front, a long black leather trench coat, she had long black hair that
reached a little below her knees, she had a black leather choker that
said demon in gold and it had crescent moon connected to it, the moon
was made of ruby. She also had a silver necklace with a crescent moon
on it as well, it had half a face indented on it like it had another
half to it. She whistled as she walked and glanced only at the ground.
She walked up the steps to Kagome's house, knocked on the door and
waited.
Moments later Kagome's mother answered the door. The girl looked
up. She had perfect emerald green eyes, her skin was flawless, and her
lips were blood red. She smiled revealing teeth that were so white
they looked like pearls. "Hi, is Kagome home?" her voice sounded
softer than silk and velvet combined. "No, she just left for school,
do I know you?" "Don't tell me you've already forgotten about me!?!"
she cried. "SETSUNA!!!" "YA ITS ME!!!" "I barely recognized you." "Ya
my clothing style has changed a bit." "I can see that, what happened
to that girl that wore dresses and took ballet?" "She's still here, I
just haven't got to my laundry yet otherwise I would have worn some
color, but this is all I had." "Have you finished your travels that
are supposed to help you become a priestess for your family shrine?"
"No, I was in the area so I thought I would just stop by say
hello, go visit home, and stay for a few days and get some rest."
"Sorry you missed Kagome, though if you had called I could have kept
her from leaving." "Oh well, I guess I'll see you two later bye."
"Bye." She waved goodbye and headed back the way she came. She walked
into her house and greeted her family. Her family consisted of two
elder brothers, her grandmother, and her father, though he wasn't home
at the time. "How was your trip dear?" "Good, Michael (eldest), Josh
(2nd eldest) I've got something for you two." "What is it?" She
reached in one of her bags and pulled out two packages.
Her brothers went to grab them but she pulled them back and
shook her finger at them. "I don't think so, first what do you say."
"Thank you." "Now have you two been taking care of my babies?" "Yes
ma'am" "Good but if I find a scratch on either of them you'll both pay
dearly." Michael and Josh both opened their presents quickly.
Michael's was a tool set for his car. Josh's was the latest video
game. They both thanked her again and took off. "I guess you forgot
about an old woman like me." "I'd never forget about you!" She pulled
out a small black box and handed it to the old woman. She opened it up
and gasped.
"How could you afford this!?!" "I didn't, it was a gift from an
old man whom I gave some remedies for his ales. When I said that I
wouldn't accept money he gave me this instead. He said it was a good
luck charm." "I don't deserve this, you do for your hard work" "Keep
it, I don't want it, besides I want you to have it." "Alright if
that's what you want" It was a 14kt gold Panda pendant necklace.
Setsuna knew that the panda was her grandmother's favorite animal.
"I'm going upstairs to unpack." "Ok, oh your father sent this for you
about a week ago."
"Ok, before I go I think I'll go visit Baron and check out my
motorcycle." Setsuna grabbed the long slender package and her bags.
She took them upstairs to her room and went back down stairs and to
the back yard. She unchained her dog Baron and growled mentally. She
had repeatedly told her brothers not to chain him up since it break
his spirit. She let him in the house. She then went o the garage to
check her motorcycle. After she done she went upstairs to her room.
She unpacked her things. After she was done she threw the package on
her bed. She looked at her room. The glass doors that led to the
balcony overseeing her back yard were open.
The silk white curtains blowing in the wind. Her full size
canopy bed completely covered in white bed linens and curtains matched
her white rug, white vanity, dresser, futon chair its cushion was
white but the frame was wood, the same with her chair for her vanity,
along with her headboard and foot board for her bed (they were wood),
her table by her futon chair was of wood frame and glass for a table
top. The frame around her glass doors was wood, she had one mirror
hanging on the wall with a wood frame. All of the wood was oak.
Including the hard wood floor. The balcony was of white marble. The
house itself was made of brick. None of it was her taste. It was her
mothers and her grandmothers. She preferred black and crimson red. She
also had a bookshelf that was oak, filled with books. That was about
the only other color in her room (the books). Those were the books she
used for research and to read. Her bookshelf had butterflies carved
into it. Along with all her wooden furniture except her futon chair,
but there was patterns of butterflies on its cushion. She smiled, she
was home.
She was glad her father wasn't there. He wasn't always the best
guy to be around. He almost always found a way to ruin things. He was
generous at times sending money to each of them a week, then the money
to pay the bills. Always sending them presents. But his work kept him
basically on the other side of the world for the most part. She sighed
and closed the door. She went down stairs to the kitchen. She waved at
her grandmother and said hi. Her grandmother was busy making lunch.
Setsuna grabbed a sandwich, kissed her grandmother on the cheek and
took off for the garage. Before her grandmother could say anything she
sped off. Setsuna was 16 so she could drive her motorcycle on the
streets since she had a license for it. She drove around town till it
was almost time for school to end. Kagome sighed, her friends kept
following her around trying to get her to "breakup" with Inuyasha and
go out with Hojou. Hojou kept following her around too.
He was real sweet and all but it was getting pretty annoying.
She nearly jumped out of her seat as the bell rung. As she was undoing
the lock on her bike a person on a motorcycle rode up behind her and
got off. As the person was taking off her helmet Kagome couldn't help
but stare. As the person set down the helmet and turned around, Kagome
recognized her instantly. She cried out her name, jumped up, and gave
her a hug. Kagome couldn't be happier to see her. It had been two
years since she seen her last. (Author note: See now wadda I tell you
