The light from her clock next to the bed read half past 3 in the morning, she had no idea how she was even still awake.

As softly as possible, she slipped from underneath the covers, grabbing the baby monitor from the nightstand, just in case the baby decided that tonight was not going to be one of the nights she slept through. She made sure to step over the creaky floorboard, before picking up the robe from the foot of the bed, and making an exit from the warmth of her bedroom, not before checking to make sure that the figure in the bed, was still fast asleep.

Making her way down the hall, she checked in on her boys, and wondered from the doorway how they were complete hell-raisers during the day and looked like complete angels tucked away safely in their beds. She shut the door and ventured to the next room.

Even though she had the monitor in the pocket of her robe, she had to double check on her baby girl. She silently crept over to crib and sure enough, the tiny child was still sleeping soundly. After pulling the cover safely over the shoulders of the small girl and gently stroking her cheek, she thought to herself of all the fights that were sure to come, once she reached her teenage years. She smiled at that.

Once down the stairs in the kitchen, a pot of water was put on, and while waiting for the water to boil, she thought back on how she ended up exactly where she was.
