"Goodbye."

Kareena's hazel eyes were locked with his deep brown ones. He gave her a weak smile. She wanted to say, no, don't say goodbye…But she couldn't find her voice. She didn't want him to go. He was her friend. The only one beside her cousin, Caspian, that understood her. Kareena had even come to fancy the young King.

"Don't say goodbye, Edmund," Kareena managed to say meekly.

Edmund gave a soft smile. He reminisced about the time they had first met. Kareena was Miraz's daughter, but Caspian had been her best friend. After she helped him escape, her father had exiled her. When Caspian and the troops had attacked Miraz's castle, Caspian had wanted to take Kareena away only to find her nowhere in the castle. Kareena had already been sent away, but was still on the road, so Caspian and Edmund had left to save her. It was Edmund, in fact, who had saved her life as the carriage she was in was about to fall over a cliff.

Kareena remembered these things too. She also remembered the way they seemed to connect. To her, Edmund was a guardian angel. As Kareena was incapable of any kind of fighting, Edmund was always there to save the day. Silly as it was, falling for someone during a war, Kareena had fallen for Edmund. And in her silent affection, she wondered if she should say a word.

"If not goodbye then what should I say?" Edmund asked.

"See you again soon," Kareena managed to force a smile.

Edmund managed to laugh a little bit.

"See you again soon."

Kareena couldn't even hold back anymore. She reached out and embraced him. He hugged her back and they embraced a long moment. Kareena wouldn't say she fell in love, but she had found a good friend in him.

"I'll miss you."

Edmund paused, and then, "Me, too."

Edmund let go of Kareena. She slammed her eyes shut, not wanting to watch him go. She clung onto his hand a moment. He turned and looked back at her. Everyone was looking at them, but Kareena didn't care. She opened her eyes and took a few steps to be closer to him.

Reaching out, she kissed his cheek.

"Come home soon, my King."

Kareena let go of his hand. Edmund lingered a moment. Then, taking a slow step back, a soft smile spread across his lips. He nodded to me, and turned away. She watched as his back turned to her and he walked away. Edmund joined his brothers and sisters at the gate. Without a glance back, they took a step through the portal…

And disappeared.

Author's Note:

So here's my little prologue to the story (: It's the end of Prince Caspian where my main character Kareena says goodbye to the Pevensies. This will be a Dawn Treader story, but I have to get my hands on the movie first! Haha . Cause we all know I write movie-verse (: So yeah . I hope you guys like this one. Keep in mind that I do say that Kareena likes Edmund but they're just really good friends and they became close in Prince Caspian. (: And yes, she's Caspian's cousin, lol. Anyway, hope you guys stick with me on this one!

If you guys know where I could watch the Dawn Treader for free online, let me know! Otherwise we'll have to wait until I can get the movie.

Oh ! And forgot to note ... this is what Kareena's character looks like. (: It's Ana de Armas.
