A/N: Here's a short little drabble I wrote as response to a tumblr prompt. I will add others to this, as I go. I have some that are in progress now, but school is kicking my butt. Enjoy!

Prompt: Anonymous asked: "Hi, I was wondering if you could do a Valentine's Day prompt? Any length is fine!"

Title: The Love Nest | Words: 750 | Rating: PG

Miranda, contrary to popular belief, hates cancelling plans. Especially Valentine's Day plans, with the only person in her life who understands her drive and her talent and her need to strive for the best. This person happens to be her wife, Andrea Sachs, and unfortunately, also happens to have become an incubus of viral plague.

"No, please, Miranda don't do this," she'd begged, "I've been planning for weeks!" Those soulful chocolate eyes almost pulled hard enough on Miranda's heartstrings to make her relent. But then Andrea let loose a powerful sneeze that practically knocked her over. And the decision had been made.

When Miranda had the doctor come and check things out, he confirmed that it was likely just a 48-hour bug; something has been going around after all. He'd said not to worry, it was nothing that a little TLC couldn't cure. And as much as Miranda would love to join her wife in bed and cater to her every need, those plans needed to be halted momentarily to take care a of a Runway crisis.

Andy was the one to insist that she go into the office for a few hours, that she'd be fine, and that she'd call if she needed anything at all no matter how small. Miranda promised not to be gone for too long, and that she'd come back with soup and snacks and chocolate ice cream (per Andy's request).

When Miranda arrived back home, with groceries in tow, she'd expected to find an adorable lump of blankets and brown hair snoring peacefully. What she actually found was entirely different. Andy was indeed wrapped in blankets, and looking a little pale and pathetic, but she seemed alert and excited as well.

"What's all this?" Miranda asked, amusement coloring her questioning tone.

"It's a love nest!" Andy sat up on her knees to properly present her creation.

Miranda looked the construction over with scrutiny, but the twinkle in her eye masked any cruelty in her tone. "It looks to me, like a blanket fort," she said, trying her best not to smile.

With a huff, Andy sits back on her knees, not impressed with her wife's lack of imagination. "No," she says like Miranda is an idiot, "it's clearly a love nest. Read the sign."

There is indeed a small post-it attached to the front of the "roof." Miranda decides to play along. "Hmm, yes." she says with a nod, "I see it now." A chuckle falls from pink lips.

Andy really had outdone herself. She might have used every spare sheet and broom in the house to create this castle of blankets. She even dragged over her laptop and extension cord to provide entertainment while submerged. Who even knows where she found the Christmas lights that were strung along the ceiling providing a soft ambient light. There were bowls of popcorn and heart-shaped boxes of candy littered about, what more sustenance would they need? Andrea had even scattered rose petals among the downy floor of blankets to set the mood.

For all the time the girls spent making forts just like this, Miranda has never once been inside one. She supposes there is a first time for everything. Apparently Miranda had not been the only one who was hard at work today.

"Do you like it?" Andrea asked, with only a little uncertainty after so much silence from her wife.

It was probably one of the nicest efforts anyone had ever made for Miranda, because it had come directly from the heart.

"Oh Andrea," she sighed, hand clutched to her chest, "Darling, I love it." Andy's smile was blinding.

Miranda moved to join her wife in what looked like the comfiest fort ever, but before she could step inside, Andy stopped her. "Nope, sorry," she said, gently shaking her head in chastisement, "No heels allowed." A wink.

"Oh, how silly of me," Miranda stated as if it were the most obvious rule in the world. She proceeded to remove her heels, much to Andy's amusement, but then followed them with her slate grey skirt and white blouse.

"How's this?" she asked coyly, dressed in just plain black undergarments.

"It's perfect." And it was.

Miranda climbed into the fort on her hands and knees, then met Andy with a kiss to the forehead. Andy reached over and closed the remaining blanket gate with a large clip. She made sure the post-it note sign on the front of the masterpiece was clearly legible. It simply read: "Love Nest. Keep Out."
