Levi wrapped his arms around Eren, kissing his cheek. Eren smiled, slipping his fingers in between Levi's and holding his hand tightly.
Hard grey eyes softened, the owner resting his chin on Eren's shoulder. The stone floor didn't bother him; nor did the hard wall his back was against. Nothing mattered but Eren. Not the Titans. Not the other troops. Not their next move. Not that Eren was taller than him. Nothing.
But Eren.
"Levi?" Eren's quiet voice reached his ears, causing him to shut his eyes.
"Eren," He responded at a volume barely above whisper.
"We might be dead by tomorrow."
Levi's eyes stayed shut.
"I know."
Eren's blue-green eyes started to fill with tears, and he squeezed Levi's hand a bit tighter.
"Promise me you'll be with me. No matter what happens."
Levi felt his heart shatter into a million pieces, like shards of glass, cutting and slicing at his insides. It wasn't a promise he could keep, but he had to make it.
"I promise."
Eren knew Levi couldn't keep his promise. It was in his voice.
A tear trailed down his face silently, dropping off his chin and onto their tightly clasped hands. Levi felt it splatter onto his hand, and he opened his eyes.
"Don't cry."
Eren pulled their hands apart and turned around, sitting face-to-face with the ravenette.
Levi stared at him for a moment, grey irises meeting teal ones. He reached out, wiping the new tears from Eren's smooth skin.
"We might be dead by tomorrow," he said.
"I know."
Levi took Eren's hands again, leaning forward and kissing him softly.
"I promise we won't be."
