Neko had some silly fantasy that had convinced Kuroh his king was alive. Kuroh didn't know how he was easily swayed by her. Perhaps it was the way she held herself, that sharp look in her eye, the stiffened jaw as she said "Our Shiro is the immortal king, remember?" that convinced Kuroh that Shiro was alive.
"Kuroh-" came Neko's weak, tired voice from the small, makeshift bed they made.
Kuroh looked over to Neko, his eyes resting on the Strain. She looked exhausted, almost in a zombie state. The two of them reeked and had grown quite thin from the lack of food they'd been receiving. Turns out dumpster diving for food rarely does work out. They had numerous wounds and scars on them for getting into fights, although Kuroh had more then Neko. They slept outside most days, even in the rain, and never enjoyed what life was like anymore. Today, however, was their lucky day and they found an empty, old warehouse to sleep in.
Honestly, the two were a mess. Most of the time, they were in their animal forms. Unfortunately, not a lot of people were kind to strays. Those who were usually tried to bring the two home or to the vet. The seldom few gave them water or food.
"What is it, Neko?" Kuroh asked.
He was always the stronger of the two. He was always reassuring Neko of different things and telling her it'd be okay and fighting for the two of them. Neko was usually getting into trouble without meaning too, which meant Kuroh worked extra hard at what he had to do.
"I'm hungry," the Strain whined.
"I know you are, I am too," Kuroh replied. "But just sleep until morning, okay? It'll be okay. I promise."
He heard Neko shift again and mumble something Kuroh didn't catch. Kuroh returned his gaze to the outside. He bit back screams and many different emotions he just couldn't cope with at the moment. He had, yet again, lied to Neko. He knew it wasn't going to be okay, nor would it ever be okay. Not until they found Shiro, and Kuroh wasn't even sure if they would even find Shiro.
Has he started lying to himself as well?
Ever since this search for Shiro had started, Kuroh had turned into a liar. And a liar was something he didn't want to be.
I dunno, this randomly came to me. I did my best searching for grammar mistakes, but nobody's perfect.
