Chapter 1 - McKinley
A new day, a new school. I can hardly say it's a shock to me, I've moved schools every year since 6th grade for my dads work, but I'm a senior, it'll be my last year of high school but my first year at McKinley, it makes no sense.
When I arrived at McKinley I knew I'd like it, when I walked in the corridor I saw the Glee Club's National trophy, at my last 3 schools they never would have let the Glee club enter a competition, if we had a Glee Club.
First period I had Spanish with Mr. Schuester and a guy in my class said he was also in charge of Glee Club so I decided to talk to him after class.
I spoke to Mr. Schuester about Glee Club and I have an audition on Friday, nervous but excited.
Chapter 2 - The Audition
I walked onto the stage with a smile on my face and a song in my heart, then I saw them, the Glee Club, National Champions, watching me, about to judge me.
Mr. Schuester was sat closer than the students, and one boy sat next to him, I think he was in my year and he had glasses and was in a wheelchair.
The boy in the wheelchair asked my name and audition piece. "Katie Standstead. At Last by Eva Cassidy." I barely managed to say the words my throat closing up.
But then I saw someone else who hadn't stood out before, he was sat around 3 rows behind the boy in the wheelchair and he looked me in the eye and mouthed the words "You can do it." And then I knew I could.
I opened my mouth and I let the music pour from me, consume me, I felt like the song was in control of me and not the other way around. After I had finished I bowed and arose to see a standing ovation, despite all the people, my eyes flew straight to the boy who's kind "words" prompted my performance, and he smiled at me.
"Katie that was amazing. Welcome to Glee Club." Mr. Schuester said as the applause diminished, I was happier than I'd been in a long time, and I knew I'd found a place I belong.
