Cold No More
BruceDiana

A/N: I re-read Wonder Woman: Hiketeia and I just had to add something to the ending of it. If you have not read it, please do. It's an awesome story. First chapter is just short but I will make the other succeeding chapters longer. God, it's been a while.

Chapter 1

Diana leaned against one of the strong walls of the library in the Themyscira House. Clutching the red curtains, she rested her head against her hand and cried. Was that all the Erinyes wanted? Danielle's blood and her tears?

Diana turned around to the balcony doors when she heard a soft knock on the glass. She quickly wiped her tears and held her chin up. No one else had to see her weak, but herself.

She strode to the balcony doors and saw a familiar dark figure standing outside the cold snowy night. Diana pulled back the doors and greeted him with a serious look on her face.

"Batman," she spoke with a low voice.

Batman took a step forward and curtly replied, "Princess."

"What else do you want? Danielle is dead," She turned away from him, wrapping her arms around her.

The Dark Knight fell silent. The whoosh of the cold wind surrounded the room. The crackle of the firewood in the hearth resonated.

"I wanted to see how you're doing," he finally spoke in his usual grave tone. He took another step, carefully analyzing his move after their fight moments ago. When Diana had not stirred, he placed his hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry," he spoke inaudibly.

Diana sighed as tears began trickling down her cheek. Without a word, she turned around and cried her heart out against his chest. Bruce stilled for a moment, surprised to see the princess in her weakest moment.

He wrapped his strong arms around her, assuring her that he was there for her. He ran his hand up and down her back, trying to shush her tears. He ran his fingers through her locks, clutching her head closer to him.

"Why did she have to do that, Bruce? Why did she have to sacrifice her own life?" She asked and he wished he knew the answers.

Diana pulled away and looked up at him, her eyes filled with tears. Bruce brushed her cheek with his thumb, "It's not your fault, Princess."

"She's dead because of me, Bruce," she whispers as she looks up at him. "If I hadn't stopped her, she wouldn't have placed both under the power of the Hiketeia."

"She sacrificed her life, Princess. It was her choice and not yours," Bruce clutches his arms around her tighter as though she would pull away at any moment.

"I know, Bruce," her voice sounded small, "I know."
