How easy it would be to simple drift off unnoticed.
No one would miss me.
A good place to step off the side.
Of the dock and quietly vanish.
That's all I have to do, sink into the sea.
Blue and cool and kind then drift off to sleep.
Let the past unwind leave the hurt behind.
Just sit on the edge and fall.
Let the pain go.
When the sun rises tomorrow .
They will all start again.
They will simply put me out of mind.
Then them close their eyes and flee.
Let them stay blind.
I will leave this place behind.
This town is coarse, cold and mean.
It's hard to keep your conscience clean.
Faceless in the crowds.
Anything's allowed.
So let me wash it all away.
Victor woke with a start he kept having nightmares about that day. He carefully gets out of bed as not to wake a sleeping Ruby. Even to this day, months later almost a year he can not believe that some one so beautiful and pure could love him. He sometimes though about taking her pain away but then she wouldn't be Ruby.
He headed down stairs and sat on the front porch, it was a bit cold but he liked it, he could see all the stars in their glory and soon they would disappear to be replace by the sun. Gone but not forgotten, and also come back.
He felt a blanket get dropped onto his shoulders and a warm mug get placed into his hand. Ruby sat next to him and wrapped the blanket around the pair of them.
"I woke up and you weren't there." Ruby says as if trying to explain herself.
"I woke up and didn't want to wake you."
"So you thought you would catch a cold instead." He hung his head " Did you have another nightmare?" She looked into his eyes and saw it. "It was about that night wasn't it."
"How did yo..."
"Werewolf thing." She put her head on his shoulder and he rested his head against hers.
"Why?" Victor suddenly asked after a while of them sitting in silence.
"Why what?"
"Why me? You could have anyone in the town, probably the whole world but you settled for me."
"I didn't settle for you , as you put it, I , well the wolf choice you, you are what I need, you are all I want and I love you." She kissed his nose.
"And I love you" He said gently as he kissed her hair line.
"Well I hope you have a little love left over."
"For what?" He was confused.
"For our child." She stated simply he looked down at her flat stomach in wonder and touched it looked into her eyes and smiled, then they kissed. And although both were scared they realized they could face anything, together, monster to monster.
