Todd Tolandsky sat as usual alone on the roof of the brotherhood "mansion" and was thinking depressing thoughts. Was he ever going to find love, the way he looked? Was he ever going to find someone who cared? Or anything at all? He was missing real human companionship it was crazy. It wasn't even funny anymore. The Brotherhood was hardly a brotherhood at all because when it came down to it – nobody cared. They were all cowards that way, never saw each other as someone worth fighting for. Toad was jealous of Lance though, he had actually once had a successful relationship with a girl he was almost willing to die for – crossing over to the X-jerks that one time was proof enough (1). The one girl he had fallen for had hardly even recognized his existence. Wanda was without measure way out of his league-he saw that now. Her powers and beauty were beyond measure; just thinking about it made him annoyed with himself. What had he got? A lousy appearance, but worse than that – useless powers as well. It hardly impressed anyone when he stuck out his tongue or jumped 3 meters in the air, especially when there were so many other cooler dudes out there.
He sighed into the night air and remembered the time when he had stolen Nightcrawler's image inducer and looked good for once in his life. It proved to him that Wanda really didn't want him because of his appearance… life wasn't fair. However, inspire of his shitty mood, he smiled, remembering the rest of the memory, it had been so much fun stealing the inducer from that blue furred freak. The look on his face and him struggling to get it back while they trashed the house – priceless. He and Nightcrawler were a lot alike come to think of it. Both were the jokers and the outsiders from their appearance of their respective teams. It made him feel slightly better about himself that at least he didn't have blue fur covering his body or had freaky hands and feet. Yeah…thinking about someone who has it worse than himself made it all not so bad anymore.
Just then, Blob stuck his head out of the window "Yo Toad – were gonna start a movie now, ya coming?" Todd had to hold back his laughter – he was looking around franticly but not even thinking about looking up, where he really was. Oh yeah, I'm a ninja. "Duuude! Whats taking you so long?" Pietro called as he zoomed to the window, his body stretching further out than the massive teenager who could only fit his head outside. "Just forget about him! Let him stay out there and mope if he wants!" Lance, that chick-magnet, yelled from inside the living room just beneath him. In spite of himself a grin slowly spread across his face. He was Todd Tolandsky, also known as the Toad, and this was his life.
"And like hell I'ma let you guys control the remote! The TV's my territory!"and with that Toad jumped off the roof, landed on Blob's bulbous head and somersaulted onto the couch.
Maybe there was hope after all?
Thanks for reading this short fic ^_^ Please review and tell me your thoughts
I wanted to give Todd some love because I feel he could have really been a good guy if he wasn't practically threatened out of the X-mansion in the first episode, which wasn't exactly the best way to help him. I emagine he must have had a pretty hard life looking like that, and I can sympathise with him for that (not that im ugly but still).
In the bonus, cut out version of episode 14, Lance tries to save kitty by throwing her away from the falling school statue and gets hit instead – proving that he was willing to die for her but it was obviously too serious to be show to little kids, so yeah.
