Mikan Sakura could not sleep.
She was no insomniac, nor vampire.
No, it was something simpler than that.
The batteries in her night light had died.
Hotaru Imai, her best friend, had constantly told her to turn it off during the day. But thus, Mikan Sakura, age 14 and three quarters, did not listen.
I know what you're thinking, the girls almost fifteen! She shouldn't need a nightlight.
Well, To sum it up, she was afraid of the dark.

So now we join our protagonist on a journey, for the only thing that could solve her problem.
"Natsume" Mikan whined while knocking on his door, she had walked all the way from her one star room to his special star room, and now he wasn't letting her in? What was with this fellow?
"Piss off Polka dots." Natsume's muffled groan came from the other side of the door. Mikan slumped her shoulders forward and turned to go back to her own room when a noise startled her. She turned around like a ninja and thumped on Natsume's door.

"Natsume!" She screamed and began knocking her fists on the door, she fell forward when a grouchy fifteen year old opened the door, clad in black boxer shorts and, well, that was all he was wearing. Mikan blushed at the sight before quickly getting up.
"What do you want?" He narrowed his eyes.
"Well, um, you see." She hesitated, he didn't seem too happy that she was outside his door at 1.47am, "I can't sleep and, Hotaru kicked me out of her room so I was uh, wondering if – "
Natsume sighed, "Get in." He said sharply.
Mikan squealed in delight and shoved the blankets over her shoulders. Natsume lazily walked over to the bed and pulled the same blankets over him, turning his back away from Mikan. Mikan's heart gave a small squeeze before she pressed her eyes closed tightly.
Tossing and turning, she slowly reached out a hand to touch Natsume's shoulder, before tapping it lightly. He stirred slightly.
"What now?"
"Natsume, um, could you turn the light on please?"
"What? Why? We can't anyway. There's a power cut."
Ah, so it wasn't that the batteries were dead at all, Mikan pondered. After realization she stiffened in his bed. Natsume turned around.

"What's wrong?" Though this time spoke in a gentler voice.
"I'm scared." Mikan whimpered, "Of the dark." She half expected Natsume to laugh and tell her how childish she was, so our young character was amazed when he instead, wrapped his arms around her and brought her into his bare chest. Mikan blushed brightly.

"It'll be okay." Natsume soothed, patting her hair and swaying her gently.
Mikan nodded into his chest, thankful he couldn't see her tainted red face. Natsume's heavy eyes lifted slightly when he got an idea.
Out of nowhere, a small flame floated in the middle of the room. Mikan gasped in surprise but smiled at the kind action, she wrapped her arms around Natsume in a thankful hug. Natsume blushed in response and looked away from her.
"You know what Natsume?" Mikan said, gleefully, a silly smile plastered on her face.
"What?"
"You're my favorite Pyromaniac."
