I heard them coming, loud thundering footsteps. I had nowhere to hide. My Gryffindor instincts told me to get out there and face all 35 of them, alone. The other side of my brain was yelling to get out of there. I couldn't see them in the pitch black darkness, but I knew, they had come for me. Suddenly, a hand clamped around my mouth and pulled me to a dark alley. My brown orbs enlarged to their fullest and I stared at the person in front of me in shock.
I wanted to get away, until I heard a deep masculine voice coo into my ear, "Shhhh…. Hermione, it's okay."
I had no idea who I was with, no idea whether he was good or bad but I felt safe. I heard the footsteps fade away and I then realized the person had removed his hand from my mouth and his other hand was comfortably settled at my waist. We were really close, much too close. I squinted into the darkness and recognized those silver-grey eyes. The same ones that always bore the same feeling of hatred when it glared into mine. The same eyes that glowed with delight when tears started to roll down my cheeks because he had called me mudblood. The same eyes that every girl I knew, had fallen in love with. Draco Malfoy.
"Malfoy why the hell are you doing this?" I hissed.
"Doing what, Hermione?"
"This, protecting me from the other death eaters, pretending that you care, pretending that you actually wanted to save me."
My breath was caught in my throat, as he leaned closer, making our noses touch. I could feel his lips graze mine; I could feel his breath on my lips. He smelt like peppermint.
"Who said I was pretending Mione? Now that my father is dead, I'm free to love whoever I like, do what I want. Blood never mattered to me; just to the bastard I called my father. You are brilliant Hermione. In fact you are perfect. I have never met such a beautiful, smart and caring girl like you, Hermione Jean Granger. I love you."
Before I had any time to think, his lips came crashing down on mine. Fireworks exploded in every part of my body. I wrapped my arm around his neck, and ran my fingers to his silky, blonde hair. I suddenly came to my senses, this is Malfoy. A pureblood, someone who hated me for basically my whole life, and here I am kissing him. But, he had changed, I had secretly liked him for a long time, he wasn't a egoistic prat anymore, he had changed-for the better. As he sucked on my lower lip, I gasped and he took that perfect time to let his tongue wander into my mouth. As they swayed together in a gentle embrace, I melted into him, pulling him closer, feeling his abs pressed tightly against my stomach.
I pulled away soon, needing air. Our lips were puffy; we were panting, but contented. Then, I said something that I never thought I would say to anyone.
"Draco Malfoy, guess what? I love you too."
