"time will tell"

Lysander doesn't know what to do with himself. He's fallen for this girl, right? Tall, with straight red hair and bluegreen eyes. She loves to write and doesn't swear, and he thinks she's pretty amazing.

But there's this other girl. He's known her since he was three years old, and he has to admit that she's all right, too. She's small, with curly red hair and she loves writing too. Her eyes are the same blue as the sky but she doesn't believe in magic like Rose does. Not magic like Wingardium Leviosa - magic like imagination and the good in people.

Rose is Lysander's best friend, and he knows the difference between writing and believing. This girl can write about worlds of lush greens and pale pink sunsets, but she can't really see it, because she can't believe in nonsense.

And even though she's nothing like what he's used to, he has to admit that Molly Weasley intrigues him.

But then there's Madeline Higgins, and he thinks she's beautiful, and he can see himself being really happy with her, you know?

The problem, he decides, is that Molly isn't Mad, and Mad isn't Molly and it makes this all so much harder, even if you leave out the fact that they're best friends.

He wishes the fairytales and stories said more than the prince rode off on his horse with a princess and a happily-ever-after. He's more of a dragon kind of guy, and his opinion of princesses is about the same as his opinion of History of Magic professors- lock them up in a castle and throw away the key and see if they can get out themselves.

(He's more into pretty redheads who write faster than they can breathe.)

So who does the hero ride off on a dragon with in this? It's not a fairytale, it's real life.

Does he choose the daughter of a cowardly war hero that doesn't believe in real magic, or the girl with the sea in her eyes and the stars in her smile?

Only fate knows, and only time will tell.

(Rose secretly thinks he's going to choose the one no-one really expects.
She's right, of course.
No-one else expected it.)

a/n 2. This crappy Drabble-like thing is for Madeline, whose name is pronounced Mad-uh-lyn, thank you very much. You may know her as chasingafterstarlight, or perhaps as tori, or possibly as a Dark Lord.
She's schizophrenic, you see.

madeline, lol, please don't kill me for the crappiness.

also, please R&R and don't favourite without reviewing!
