"Miaka?" His majesty stepped into the tomb that their ever-treasured Suzaku warrior now slept inside. Nuriko had been dead for three days; Miaka had been silent all times of the day, even during meals. Everyone else was behaving peculiarly too. Tasuki hadn't even attempted to make any wise- cracks at Tamahome. Tamahome was still in denial about the whole thing. Everyone in the palace was a wreck. He too, had longings to see the friendly face of his fellow senshi again. He had never even realized until now that he possessed the kind of feelings for Nuriko he was feeling right now. Even so, Miaka appeared to be taking this harder than anyone else.
"Miaka?" He repeated again, this time, the girl turned her head and nodded at him. She was still wordless. Hotohori kneeled down beside her. "We've all been worried for you." Miaka nodded and stifled a tear. "I've never really felt this terrible before. I feel like I've done something wrong." Her hand was running over the tomb stone. "You've done nothing wrong." Hotohori assured placing his hand on her shoulder in attempt to console her. Miaka pushed his hand away, "Then why does it feel like it?" The tears began to fall now. Hotohori reached for her face and wiped one away. "We ALL miss him." "Not the way I do. I guarantee you that Hotohori." Miaka noticed Hotohori was holding back tears now too. Miaka gasped. "Do you shed tears?" Hotohori quickly turned his head to conceal his cloudy eyes. "There's no shame in crying Hotohori. Emperors can have emotions too y'know." Hotohori grabbed Miaka and held her a moment in a tight embrace, he released her and asked her a serious question, "Do you think, I could cry on you?" Miaka bit her lip, "Do you think I might then cry on you after?" "Yes."
Both Miaka and Hotohori spilled out their emotions right there.
"I feel not only grief Miaka, but guilt as well." Hotohori said after letting go of her sleeve. Miaka nodded, the feeling was mutual. "I feel so horrible, Nuriko never found true love, his feelings always went unrequited." "Yeah." Miaka didn't know what to say to Hotohori at this point. "Do you mind if, You left Nuriko and I alone?" Asked Hotohori respectfully. Miaka nodded, "May I ask you one question before turning to my chambers?" "Absolutely." Miaka took a deep breath. This was something she had been thinking over for a few days now. It was something that need to be done, and the sooner it was done, the better. She had to ask him. "Can I go back to my world, please?" "Miaka!" This question was appalling. How could she leave at such a crucial time? Was she not aware of her duties? "I know, it's very inconvenient. But, I just HAVE TO GO HOME! I have to see my big brother! Please?" Miaka was on verge of begging now. But Hotohori understood at this point. He smiled at her weakly and nodded, "Tomorrow, we'll go to visit Tai Yi-Jun. You shall be returned." The thunder clashed loudly. Miaka smiled back, "I graciously give you thanks your majesty." Miaka turned and started back to the palace when she began to hear heavy sobbing.
