Title: She

She had the posture of a gallant queen, cold and unyielding. But she had a heart of a child, easily wounded and almost always a victim.
She confessed to loving me at first sight, though she hid it well. She also confessed to hating me at first sight, because she would sometimes mistake me for him.
I remembered so well the day we said our very first goodbye, for I belonged in my world and she chose to stay up where she didn't really belong. I thought she was the one to finally stop the rain. I was wrong. She created torrents enough to drown me with thoughts of our differences.
I asked her once if she had ever loved Renji. "Always…", she answered defiantly. Then she proceeded to stomp on my face.
I asked Renji once if he had ever loved Rukia, though I already knew the answer. "No shit, baka…", he answered with contempt. Then he proceeded to try and stomp on my face, but my fist connected with his first.
Orihime asked me once if I had ever loved Rukia. "…..", the silence made her turn away with a soft weary sigh. How to put into words something he didn't quite understand?
Every angle of her character was flawed, though she was always immaculately well put. If there was one flawless quality about Rukia, it was that she never failed to push him most uncomfortably near self-destruction. How many times had he gone super bad-ass saiyan because of her?
I can't recall ever witnessing a tender moment between brother and sister. Although her eyes glittered with adoration underneath a bowed head. Although he would break his sacred rules and challenge anyone for her sake.
I came to the realization one lazy Sunday morning that Rukia will always be oblivious to those who loved her. This is the legacy that marked her from the day she was left abandoned by her own sister. A child neglected will always look upon a mirror image of worthlessness.
I always wondered if she drew her god-awful illustrations just to get a rise out of me. Because I certainly always try to be the hero with my lame and theatrical entrances just to get a rise out of her. It takes a hell of a lot to make an impression on Rukia.
