I don't own any of the characters in and I apologize for grammar/spelling mistakes.

Nico growled as he stared at the large cut on his arm. He just had to not dodge the attack in time. While the wound wasn't extremely deep, it wasn't exactly a small cut either. Percy winced at him.

"Sorry, dude, I didn't mean to—"

"It's fine," Nico cut him off, "I'll just take some ambrosia and let it heal."

"Nico, that's pretty deep," Percy chided. "I think you should go to the infirmary."

Nico let out a sigh and muttered, "Fine." Percy raised his eyebrows. Everyone knew Nico was as stubborn and he rarely gave up or admitted defeat on anything. Everyone also knew how stubborn Nico was when it came to visiting the doctor. He would groan and complain for hours but eventually would just go and get checked up or had his physical wounds tended to. He would always come back out flushed and grumbling later, making people curious on what exactly went on there.

The son of Hades trudged grumpily into the infirmary that was typically full of injured demigods. Will's sister, Kayla came walking up to him. After he and Will had started dating, Nico was quite surprised at how welcoming the other Apollo children were. Kayla was the most welcoming and Nico sort of adopted her as a sister. He smiled at the girl whose hair was pulled back in a ponytail and had mint green scrubs on.

She grinned, "Hey, Nico, what brings you here?" He showed her his arm and she clicked her tongue. "I'm a bit busy with something at the moment, so the doctor will have to help you out." Nico gave a little sigh and nodded. Said doctor came in and chatted with Nico who chatted back, trying to be friendly. After bandaging him up, the doctor let him go and Nico made quick to leave.

He wasn't sure why, but he started thinking of the meaning of his name. He snorted as he recalled that it had to do with victory. Well, it wasn't exactly a misfit to his life. He certainly did have a constant victory. A victory that kept making him live against all odds. He had pretty much lost everything and was involved in several life or death situations. However, he continually triumphed, each time getting a new load of misery on his shoulders. He glanced back and saw Austin, the doctor, wave sadly at him. Nico tried not let the tears fall. It wasn't fair that every time he walked into the infirmary, he could still imagine a light, cheerful voice, jokingly chiding him and saying "Doctor's orders, di Angelo." It wasn't fair that he was still plagued by the thought of when he was curled up on an infirmary bed pressed up against that warm, tan body that smelled like a specific scent that Nico could no longer place. The place that seemed so bright and cheerful had now grown dim and haunted to Nico.

He sat on the docks now watching the darkness pull the sun down. A few tears slipped down his olive— now growing pale again— face. It wasn't fair that Nico's latest victory of not dying and getting a heavier load of misery was the loss of his boyfriend, Will Solace.
