Hi. This is just my head-canon about the whole Damon wiping Elena's memory situation(s).
I know the dialogue isn't 100% accurate to the actual show, but hey, it's a fan fic.
I hope you all enjoy this one-shot!
"What are you doing with my necklace?" Elena asked quietly. She was eyeing the trinket dangling from Damon's fist.
"Look at me," he responded in a soft voice. Elena obeyed simply because she was startled by his tone. When had Damon ever sounded so tender?
"I love you, Elena."
Her heart stopped. She found herself losing her way in those jade irises. She could feel a warmth rising from her chest and clouding her mind. She was going to open her mouth to speak, but he beat her to it.
"Now you have to forget." His pupils dilated and contracted. Elena's mind began to blur and blank out.
A tear slipped from Damon's eye. It was all too familiar.
I lay in the middle of the road awaiting a car or two to come by. I was thirsty. I needed my nightly fix. Mystic Falls was boring. This was my only enjoyment; to lay in the middle of the road and ambush bumbling citizens. Sometimes I'd pretend that it was a horror movie and that I was the villain. Anything to preoccupy my time. That's when I heard her.
"Yeah, I just don't know what to do."
I allowed my head to rise a few inches from the ground. She was walking toward me. My eyes traveled up those legs, lingered at her hips, and finished their journey at her face. Katherine.
I felt my heart racing. For the first time in months I actually felt alive, and I wasn't killing anyone for the feeling either. I sat up and strolled over. Katherine was on the phone with someone, and for some reason she ignored me.
"Katherine," I breathed.
She looked at me and I could instantly see confusion glittering in her eyes. "No, I think you have me confused with someone else."
"Oh, my mistake. It's just that, you really remind me of someone," I was having trouble stringing words together. Shock was taking over and numbness was setting in. So I hadn't stumbled across Katherine. Definitely a buzz kill. However the girl I had managed to stumble across, and probably terrify looked a hell of a lot like my long lost lover.
There was something different about her. Something I couldn't quite place. It seemed to illuminate her, like an aura.
"I'm Damon," I blurted out.
She smiled, naturally, even though it was the middle of the night and I was a complete stranger, she couldn't resist my charm.
"I'm Elena," she said uncertainly.
"So what's a girl like you doing out so late?" I teased.
"Well, I was at a party. Then some drama went down. I decided to walk it off," she explained.
"Ah, right," I sighed. Teenagers. "Anything I can do to help," I offered.
"Yeah, if you can tell me what exactly it is that I want," Elena replied sarcastically.
"You want someone dark, and mysterious," I said, half joking.
Elena laughed and he couldn't help but smile. Unfortunately someone from the party was coming down the lane calling for Elena. She spun around and I put a hand on her shoulder. She turned to me questioningly. That's when I looked her straight in the eyes. Her brown eyes scanned my face.
"Now you have to forget," I said
