Kuri awoke to the soft sounds of the forest morning.

her ears flickered forward, to the mouth of the den her family called home, a smile on her maw.

she stood and streched her long, sleek elegant yellow form, the spiked furry mess she called her tail flicking up.

The form suited her.

With all her energy, it was perfect.

"Todays the day." she said happily to herself, darting to the back chambers of the den and pouncing on her fathers sleeping form,

"Poppa! Poppa! Today's the day!" she cheered, the dark umbreon rolling over and kicking his ball of energy child off of him.

"I know Kuri, we went over it a hundred times last night.." Kabu yawned, prodding reaching to prode his mate awake.

realising there was no warm form to poke, he sat straight up, Kuri rolling backwards and looking outside, "She's out there Poppa." she said with a grin, running outside.

The Umbreon sighed and followed.

"Good morning sweetheart." Kali said happily, nuzzling her daughter lovingly and looking to her mate, "Good morning love."

The morning proceeded as usualy, beside the hyper jolteon and her boundless energy ready to set off on her own as her brother had not too long ago.

Kai had chosen not to evolve yet. He had gotten word of an icy place where Eevee's could grow, and change to meet the harsh needs of the ice, as a Glacia.

Kuri was going to seek him out once she left, to see how he was.

"Remember to avoid humans, and anytihng larger than you, and anything ground typed, and..." Kabu rambled on, a clear panic on his face.

He was cut off by Kali, who lightly whipped her split tail in his face, "Just listen to your insticts dear, and be sure to come visit sometime." she said with a smile, Kabu giving a slight laugh and smiling.

"Bye mom, bye dad, I'll come back soon!" the Jolteon cheer, energy abound and she took of in a yellow blur.

Kali was happy.

and a bit sad.

Ever since she was an Eevee, she had seen herself growing up and having offspring with Kabu, those offspring one day growing up and leaving.

Her dream was met, and she wasn't sure what to do.

"Don't worry about it, we'll think of something." The black furred mass beside her said in a calming tone, his tail wrapping around her.

"Yeah...I just feel like somethings wrong...like there's something in our lives we've neglected to deal with..." she said darkly, her forehead jewel giving off an eerie gleam.

"...d-don't talk like that, Everything is good." Kabu muttered as he nuzzled her, trying to keep his cool.

"Liar..."

CRASH

The sound rang out through the forest, a flock of Pidgey flying off at it.

Snarles were heard.

curses were shouted.

"THIS IS WHAT YOU LEFT FOR?! WAS I NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU?!"

Another Crash.

A faint splash.

The snap of jaws.

the situation calmed.

The Pidgey returned and looked down at the sight in horror.

A trainers body, roughtly 16 or 17, lay sprawled on the floor, his Juggular ripped out, blood flowwing everywhere.

But it got worse, for they did not care much for the human.

The Lavender, spashed with crimson was what frightened them so.

An Espeon was slummped against a rock, panting heavily, a large gash across her abdomen.

"K...K-Kali..." the Umbreon stuttered out, his old trianers blood smeared across his mouth, "Kali.. n-no..."

"Shh...Listen..I..I can't s-speak much... explain it t-to the kids...d-don't lie...a-a-and Kabu..." she choked out, blood dripping out of the corner of her mouth.

"Y-yes...?" he bit back the tears burning at his eyes, nuzzling his mate lovingly.

"Your e-ears bent..." she murmured quietly, smirking at him.

The glow of the jewel softened,

flickered,

and went out.

That night, under the full moon. mournful howls filled the air.
