The brilliant sun shined from high above as it overlooked dozens of students in the courtyard, studying, having playful conversation, and soaking in the light that was the blazing sun. The sun sprinkled in the slightly green tinted lake, its rays glittering on the water. A massive tentacle swished above the surface for a brief moment only to go deep under the water once more. Only a few people weren't enjoying the wonderful summer day. Two of which were positioned under a tree that completely blocked the sun out. Just a strip a bright light flowed through the branches revealing a young girl's face. Her eyes were fluttering as she started to drift off. The heavy book in her hands lay forgotten on the ground. Instead of her usual school uniform, she was wearing a simple lavender dress. It was littered with perfectly designed white flowers that looked like dots from where her friend was sitting.
As Severus watched Lily falling asleep he did not realize his mouth was open halfway, staring at her with affection. Now much taller and intelligent than she'd been three years ago, Lily was aging gracefully with no apparent flaws. Severus knew he could look all day at her, but finally coming to terms of his infacuation with the scene, he regretfully looked away. Swallowing hard as if it would help his vast emotions go away, Severus fiddled with his thumbs.
Quite bored now, he picked up the book Lily had been reading. He frowned at the cover titled Muggle History. He knew this was from her muggle studies class. He tried persuading Lily that there was no point to take it, considering she grew up muggle-born, but Lily insisted it was an interesting class. Snape tried convincing himself muggles were not useless, but it was difficult. He just kept reminding himself that muggles are not unlike wizards, however that was absurd. Muggles posessed no power or proper authority in Snape's opinion. Then again he thought of Lily's parents. How much they loved Lily. They'd do anything for their daughter. Then the war in his head subsided as he thought of the young lady beside him. He grinned in spite of himself. Making sure no one was nearby he shifted his body close to hers. Pushing black strands of hair behind his ear he came an inch from Lily's face. She was in a deep sleep her breathing slow and peaceful. Snape softly pressed his lips to hers. It was surprising to Snape that something could be so soft. It surprised him more that he could be so gentle with her. He leaned back as Lily continued to sleep. How she had not awaken he could not say, but she didn't even move until several minutes later. A small smile spread on the corners of her mouth. Biting his lip Severus turned his head toward the lake, knowing Lily could never possibly feel the same in reality.
Severus tucked a piece of history in his cloak as another tear dripped to the floor. His finger touched his lips in the silence. His lips were cold, chapped, and untouched. Drawing himself to his fullest height he wiped the threatening tears away. With one last fleeting thought of Lily Potter, he disapparated.
