Note: I'm aware fish can't hear. This is a pokemon, however, and the rules of normal animal biology don't always apply.

Sun glared through the rippling water, shades of blue and white peered down as the silhouette of a trout darted above me, close to the dancing surface. The pink blur of cherry blossoms swayed in and out of view.

"Mummy! I found a fish!"

The trout made a quick getaway, the single swish of its tail made an almost crunchy sound under the water, and was all it needed to keep clear. My fins were not so well designed, and I knew from some strange memory, or perhaps instinct, that my best form of defence was camouflage. I waited as a round shadow blocked out the sun, leaning over from the grassy bank. It wobbled from the ripples. My fins gently rotated at the side of my body in anticipation.

I could hear an unusual sound. I couldn't have even described it then, except for muffled and high pitched. The water broke above me like shattering glass, and before I knew it I was in a sack-like contraption, feeling sun like I had never felt it before. On my wet skin it burned. I had been too slow to hide myself in the mud and all I could do about it was flop about. I could barely see for the sunlight, which appeared to be coming from several different directions, reflecting off the water droplets falling from my body.

My heart raced as I did everything in my power to escape. A strange dizziness had come over me, as the more I panicked the more I gasped for breath. The more I gasped for breath the dizzier I became. Any movement that I attempted became more and more restricted, like my own skin was suffocating me. I couldn't tell you what happened next. I can't even remember. Right before the stars started glittering, blinding me and shrouding me in darkness, I heard this:

"Catch it! Quick!"
