Disclaimer: I don't own pokemon. There, I said it.

AN: So here I am, making my big return as potterisaballler. Thank you, thank you, pleases, I'm embarrassed, lets try to hold the applause until afterwards. LOL!! just kidding but it is nice to be back on here. Now as far as I know like 4 people know of me, and hopefully they like pokemon fics. In my profile I said that I discovered that I'm a big fan of pokeshipping, and that's true. But my story that I'm writing has an OC as one of the main characters so I thought that I'd write this story about him and his adventures leading up to meeting Ash. I have never written battle scenes so if you read this I would like you to review and give me some advice. I think that this will be somewhat of a long story but I'm now sure. Hope you like it. P.S. I do not believe that Ash or Brock will be in this story. However they will be mentioned. I might add them physically just briefly, but they will definitely not be a big part of the story. However I intend to make May and Max large characters in it. It's not a certain, but I'm pretty sure. Anyway, on with the story.

It was a day like any other in Twinleaf Town. The Butterfree called to each other noisily from the forest, squirtels played with each other on the bank of the small pond at the south end of town, and a 16 year old boy was playing with his Growlithe in the front of his house. "Growlithe, use flamethrower at that Marowak now." The boy pointed towards the trees and sure enough there was a 3 foot tall skull wearing pokemon. "Growlithe." The dog growled that he understood and launched a powerfull fire attack towards it. The Marowak dodged and threw it's bone club towards the dog. Before it could react the bone struck it square in the head and returned to the wild Marowak's hand. Growlithe went crosseyed and fainted on the spot. The Marowak ran off into the woods. "Oh, man. So close. Growlithe, are you okay? You did great, we should get you up to Sandgem town to get you healed." The boy pulled a pokeball from his belt and a red beam of light shot to the dog and pulled it in. He placed the ball back where he got it. He turned around and started back for home. The town, or village as it should be called, was small. With only 4 houses and 7 people it could barely be called that. His mother was the famous Cynthia, former pokemon league champion. She was hardly ever home, but it seemed that she would be home a lot more now. Normally it was just him and his Dad. As he made his way to his doorstep he thought back to the day that his mother returned, just 3 days ago.

"Chris, how are you. You've grown so much since I last saw you. And Growlithe is getting more and more impressive." The dog pokemon barked in appreciation. Chris' mother walked up and embraced him in an affectionate hug.

"Hi mom, I'm glad your home. There's something really important that Dad and I have been wanting to talk with you about." Chris said after his mother released him. Before he get anything else out his mother shushed him.

"I just got home, it'll have to wait. Speaking of your father, where is he? Oh, never mind I can hear the TV." She walked into the living room and saw her husband. "Hi Honey, long time no see." Chris' dad looked up and smiled in surprise.

"Hey, your home early. Not that I'm now happy but, why?" His father looked worried, but Chris couldn't figure out why.

"Well, your not going to believe it, but I was actully beaten. I am no longer the Pokemon league champion. In a way, I'm kind of relieved. I like being home and when I was champion I was never able to be with my family as much as I wanted. Now I can be."

Chris was dumbstruck, he had seen his mom in action and he had thought that she was undefeatable. "Who was it?"

"A woman named Julia. She was the most amazing trainer I have ever met. She defeated my Garchomp, Lucario, Spiritomb, Gastradon, Milotic, and Roserade with only one pokemon. Her Gallade seems indestructable. It moved so elegantly, and I could tell that they shared a real bond. I am glad that it was her who defeated me and not someone else."

Since then Chris had been working up the courage to ask his mom the big question. He wanted to leave on his own journey and become the world's strongest trainer. He didn't know how his mother would react. He hoped that tonight at dinner when he brought it up that she would be all for it. He was up in his room playing fetch with Growlithe when he was called down to dinner.

Upon arrival downstairs he sat at the table and waited for his mom and dad to sit down. As they fixed their plates of Spaghetti he thought of how best to bring it up. He wasn't hungry, he was too nervouse. They sat down at the short table where they ate and he said the first thing that came into his mind. "Mom, me and dad have been talking and we both think it's time that I started my own pokemon journey." His mom didn't change her form at all. She slowly finished the spaghetti that was in her mouth then set down her fork. She looked Chris directly in the eyes. He thought that he had made her angry, but then she smiled brightly at him.

"That's great, I've been wondering if you ever were going to go. I hope that you go out there and be the best trainer alive. I want you to pack all of your clothes tonight and your leaving first thing tomorrow. It's better if you leave right away, so that you don't back out. Oh, I am so proud of you. I think that you could be a great trainer Chris. Although, you have lots of competition. There's a boy out there around your age, his name's Ash Ketchum. He has potential. I have total faith in you, but I advise you not to make enemies with that boy. And, as a going away present, me and your father will go up to Sandgem and get you a little something that we've been talking about. Don't wait up." With that they got up from the table, leaving their food, and left a very confused Chris sitting alone at the table. That had not gone at all as he had imagined. He thought that his mom would blow up and lecture him that he wasn't responsible enough and that he had a lot of growing up to do. But she couldn't wait for him to leave. He smiled to himself. Starting tomorrow he was a pokemon trainer, battling his way to the top. He was so happy that he went up to his room and just laid on his bed, thinking of all his adventures that he was going to have.

Chris was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't hear the downstairs door open. But he was snapped out of his trance when his Mom called for him. As he retraced his steps back to the kitchen he saw his mom and dad standing there smiling at him. He smiled back and asked his mom what she wanted. "Well, we have something, or should I say someone, for you. We thought that you would need another companion to start your journey with, you know besides Growlithe, so be got you one. Chris, I would like you to meet your new pokemon, Croagunk. A purple froglike creature burst from a pokeball on the table and jumped into Chris' arms. "Gunk." It licked him in the face and then hopped down. It started to bounce around wildly and Chris had to call him back to his pokeball.

"He could use with some training. I think I can handle it. Thank you mom and dad, I love him. And I love you too." He said. All they could do smile back at him and tell him that they loved him too and that they would miss him. His dad rushed him up to bed, telling him that he would have to get up early the next morning, then Chris and his family fell asleep. All dreaming of Chris' upcoming adventure.

AN: And that's the first chapter done. Tell me what you think. I really don't like flames, but if you must go ahead. I hope you liked it, I'll be updating weekly or whenever I get a little creative burst. By the way I will be putting my 6 favorite pokemon as my pokemon, and I can tell you right now that Drew will not be making an appearance in either of my two fics. I don't really watch the anime that much but I kind of know what' going on. I will be basing this fic off of the games and the movies. It won't be like the game, just the locations and what the towns look like.
