First Love Letter
Prologue - First Love Letter
(Junior High)
"Sakura-senpai!"
Turning toward the voice, Sakura faced four blushing girls. They were wearing uniforms of a different junior high school, so Sakura was sure she didn't know any of them.
"Ano, do I know any of you?" Sakura asked, confused as the girls became even redder.
Three of them pushed a pretty girl with short brown curls forward. The little girl bowed and shoved something toward her. Without giving Sakura any chance to speak, she ran off.
"Cho-chotto matte…"
"Please read that, Senpai!" squeaked one of them as they all ran after the girl.
Confused, Sakura turned over the small flowery envelope in her hands.
"Sakura, what are you doing? We've been waiting for you! You're gonna be late for P.E. if you don't hurry it up!"
The familiar voice snapped Sakura out of her confusion. Turning back toward the soccer field, she spotted her best friend. She was wearing gym clothes in the colors of the school, a bleach white t-shirt with maroon shorts.
Sakura waved a hand in greeting, then dashed off toward her. "Tomoyo-chan! Gomen! I heard someone call my name at the front gates and went to see who they were."
Tomoyo ran along with Sakura at an easy pace toward their next class. Catching sight of the letter, Tomoyo raised her brows.
"Ehh? It's only been the third day of junior high and you've already got a letter? Who is he?"
Sakura stopped in her tracks. Turning it over again, Sakura saw that her name was written on it. Slowly, it finally dawned on her what the letter was. Horror struck her face as she yelled, "EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Tomoyo stopped and ran back to Sakura, a worried expression on her face. "What? What is it?"
"My-my first love letter!"
The worried expression on Tomoyo's face disappeared, replaced by a smile. "Sakura, you're so dense. Of course it's a love letter. What did you think it was?"
Looking up at Tomoyo, Sakura let out another yell. "Tomoyo-chan! My-my first love letter!"
Tomoyo burst into laughter. "Is it that surprising? Even though you are extremely tomboyish at times with that short haircut and the way you always dress, you're still very kawaii!"
Clutching her head, Sakura brought the letter up to her face. "HO-HOW CAN MY FIRST LOVE LETTER BE FROM A GIRL?!"
