Sherlock woke in a hospital bed with an awful headache. John sat on a chair beside him. When John noticed Sherlock staring at him he burst into laughter. Sherlock was confused and had no recollection of what had happened.

"Oh John what are you laughing at? Also how did I get here?" Sherlock asked impatiently.

"What?" John smirked… "You seriously can't remember? Sherlock shook his head and knew that what John was going to tell him would do nothing for his reputation.

"Please John just tell me so that I can mentally prepare myself for the attacks of Lestrade and his gang. I see from your phone that you were texting them all anyway." Sherlock knew that John had been waiting for something…anything that he could hold over him for a prolonged period of time; ever since Sherlock had caught him cuddling up to a teddy bear a couple of weeks ago. It would now appear that this event had occurred but he still could not remember anything of the previous evening.

"Well Sherlock; do you remember yesterday when you decided that you would create an experiment to see whether a bouncing ball or a cricket ball would leave a greater mark on your 'bullet wall'? And then you continued it by standing at different lengths from the wall and with different objects in your way…" Suddenly the memories came flooding back to Sherlock and he knew the ending.

"No John tell me I didn't…Please tell me that my mind is creating an alternate series of events…" Sherlock spluttered out before John continued.

"You then decided to stand on the table and fire the bouncing ball as hard as you could against the wall. You did that and then the ball flew around the room before coming back and hitting you square on the forehead" John concluded before entering a fit of hysterics. Sherlock bowed his head in embarrassment. He had knocked himself out and John had witnessed it. He grabbed John's phone a scrolled to his outbox before John had time to realise what he was doing. To his dismay there were photos to accompany the story so Sherlock knew that his friends at Scotland Yard were going to have a field day and this time it was his own stupidity that had given them their opportunity.

"Thanks a lot John, I thought we were friends" Sherlock said in a sulking tone. This caused John to laugh even harder if that was possible.

"Sometimes Sherlock things come before friendship and this…this I could not keep to myself…"At this point John was holding his ribs in pain as he was laughing so hard. Sherlock lay back down in the bad and closed his eyes in a huff. He refused to speak to John even when he was discharged an hour later.

Never again would Sherlock ever come up with a ridiculous experiment to overcome his sheer boredom. And if he ever did he would firstly make sure that John Watson was somewhere far far away with no phone and no possible way of humiliating him if his experiment went slightly pear-shaped.
