Revised 7/19/10
Brothers All
Brothers all, no one else cares
But the ones beside you; they're always there
Fighting a war they were bred to fight
Knowing that there is no hope for their life
Useless armor, feeble kit
Even the healthiest are getting sick
Never smiling, never crying
Never lamenting, always dying
The people they protect
Give them no respect
They are clones, what do you expect?
-x-
Brothers all, they march in formation
Towards the barracks in which they are stationed.
In the cold and the rain, the fight is more urgent all the same
Watching friends die
In the hands of mindless droids
Makes them forget such a thing as joy.
For those who believe, they join the Manda
For others, they're just dead and gone.
Another "unit" lost, one of thousands.
They'll just make more.
-x-
Brothers all, they survived brutal training
And an accelerated childhood without any playing
Not a citizen, not an outcast
Not a criminal, not a loner
No one cares; just win the war
But don't expect any reward
Scarred faces, bruised limbs
All testimonials to the pain
They have nothing to lose or gain.
To the Republic, they're all the same.
-x-
Brothers all, they near collapse
But sheer will keeps them going
And they'll always have that
A rest at the barracks is miles away
But who would make camp in the mud and rain?
Dragging dead companions, clinging to their runs,
They would give anything to be on a world with three suns.
"Onward, onward, we're almost there"
Urges a Jedi leading the squad.
He can use the Force to go on.
But these men cannot.
