Author's Note: My submission for the 2014 TMNT Horror Fan Fiction Competition. I'm not too proud of it, but I got it finished and at least it's something. :) Hope you all enjoy!

Silencelingered like the breath of a frozen whisper; a chilling ambiance that left Mikey paralyzed where he laid – not an inch to be moved nor a sound to be uttered. On cue, the faint creaking of aging wood could be heard, followed by the slight kerfuffle of dragging footsteps, draaag, draaag, draaaging down the empty hallway.

"Donnie says it's just your imagination," Mikey whispered, his eyes wound shut as he repeated his mantra, ignoring the drip, drip, drip of water droplets tapping against the floor. He remembered Donnie telling him the creaking noises was just the house settling in from old age, but when he told him it wasn't just the creaks that would echo through the night, but the sound of footsteps as well, his older brother didn't believe him, thinking it was just paranoia from all the scary movies him and Casey had been watching since they retreated to the farmhouse.

Scrape.

Shuffle.

Drip, drip.

He let out a shaking breath, a small puff of translucent fog pooling from his lips. A sharp shudder shot across his spine and in a matter of seconds, Mikey could feel the temperature dropping, his body shivering as the footsteps grew louder; faster.

Scrape. Scrape. Shuffle.

"D-Donnie?" Mikey whimpered. "R-Raph? Casey? Are you g-guys trying to s-scare me or something?"

Silence. Not a sound to be heard. But Mikey could feel the presence of another, standing patiently behind the closed door of his room, waiting for the right moment. The right time to reveal itself.

He swallowed down the lump in his throat and lifted himself up ever so gently. "B-Bros?"

"No," the voice whispered, its thin fingers wrapped around the handle as it pushed the door open to elicit a dragged out creeeeaaaaaak.

He shut his eyes, shielding his face with the ends of his blanket. What prompted him to look, Mikey still didn't know. But when he did, he couldn't believe what he was seeing, his eyes open so wide the white area overpowered the iris, mouth slack and heart slowing to a complete standstill.

"Leo…?"
